We share many things with our virtual teammates - some things that are great celebrations, and some things that are rough spots in the road of life. And sometimes they are both of those things.

Kaylee, one of our junior rowers, asked me to post a picture of her best friend Morgan today. As many of you know, Kaylee wrote a note to all of us last year and asked us to pray for Morgan - and Jim posted an article on Friday from their local news about how special Morgan was to their community. Morgan passed away on Saturday, and today Kaylee and members of her softball team (the Ladybugs) were honorary pallbearers at Morgan's funeral. They wore their uniforms and were wonderful. I don't know these kids but I am so proud of them.

I plan on doing a row today with a lot of 8's in it - because Morgan was 8, just like our young teammate Kaylee is. Maybe some of you will also throw some 8's into your row as we help Kaylee celebrate a life that's been cut short. Hug your kids.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Morgan's family and those who knew and were touched by her. From the little I know of her, she sounded like an inspiration to all who knew her.

8,888 erged for Morgan.
Such a sweet girl, who has touched so many people and shown them how to care about something other than themselves...
Thoughts and prayers to all who knew her and were part of her life.

It's a good feeling to see all those 8s today in the numbers. I don't really have the words for it so forgive me for just skipping over it.

Yup. Free Spirits have added some more rowers to their team, beating us in the process. We were quite a ways behind last night, caught back up this morning (and were back in 2nd place by 3km for a short while), and while I was on my way to work added another rower who had quite a number of kms logged to overtake us once more.

Last night I rowed with a sore elbow and tried to take it easy (not stretch my arms out all the way and such). It worked, but the arm is still sore this morning, so I think my body is telling me to take a couple of days off and let it heal instead. I want to row and beat Free Spirits, but I think I should just sit on the exercise bike instead for the next few days. :(.

How about I'll cheer from the sidelines until my elbow is healed up? I hope that by catching it early it'll heal quickly and not become an aggravated injury (right now it's not truly an injury, more of a warning sign).
Wim (attempting to get back into rowing shape).

Having taken over the stats a few times while Kona2 was on vacation, I cannot begin to tell you how much effort it takes to track our meters, especially during Challenges. The spread sheet is ultra-complex, and requires much cutting and pasting to accommodate all the changes in positions, plus the various comings and goings of team members. It took me about 90 minutes each day to capture the meters and post the results, and I didn't include the Challenge stats, or personal touches that K2 adds. I'm amazed that she does this every day!

So, even if we are sometimes (not often, I might add) missed in the daily call-out, rest assured that if you posted your meters, then Concept2 has them banked in your logbook.

Kaylee would like to thank everyone for the nice thoughts and all the 8's rowed. She has a game this evening so she is busy doing homework before she goes.
Thank you so much from me too.

And never one to miss singing K2's praises... I add a hearty endorsement to all that Chris says! The time Jan sacrifices from rowing/ cycling/ and her general life to keep this place buzzing along is greatly appreciated here in Oz!

Ah. Always good to let me know! I had an early tee time so was in a hurry, and did enter the 23665 m for you on the spreadsheet- I thought "whoa...that's a lot of rowing!" at the time. When I was putting them all in order (because I like orderly things), I lost sight of those meters in the transfer. Oops! - I just didn't check my work, so to speak. They are still there (although I can't ever "see" how many times a person rows unless they are a training partner). I usually start with the Fall Challenge stats, and knew I did not have time to do both the team stats and the Fall Challenge stats before I left. I thought today it was more important to get the Team stats showing how the whole team really supported Kaylee with their rowing. It really happened this way.... :D

Minnie is right - it does get very crazy with the challenges. More so in March when we have two challenges plus team stats going on. Best thing to do is to ask about missing meters as you did - never know if they are off in cyberspace somewhere, so it's good to check. I don't take it personally. :D

Good morning luna-tics from a warm and sunny Sydney...

And I’ll endorse what Dave and Minnie said! Thanks K2!

I see we’ve slipped back to third after Free Spirits found some extra rowers, although we are pumping just above their average, so great work to all...

And the lady leading the charge, must be like the ‘energiser bunny’ – doesn’t stop. She did the same last year, in fact I recall reading a story about her somewhere, averaging something like 60,000/70,000m a day, as I said before age is nothing but a statistic (her statistic is 68!)...

Be good, or something like that! BBB B)
