New 10K PB

Post by vigtoire » March 22nd, 2009, 5:04 am

Knocked 5 seconds off my 10K PB and down to 39:54.6. Am happy as had fallen off the pace in the last few weeks, but this morning I was well rested and managed to keep it together, so I had enough for the final 1K.

Coach pulled a surprise 2k on us this morning. For fun he also covered our splits, so all we could see was how many meters left and the stroke rating. He said it was for "race simulation". Pacing didn't go so well (1:42, 1:46, 1:46, 1:44), but I just beat my PR from last year so I'm feeling pretty good.

Final time was 6:58.3

New 10K PB - 38:51.2...was not really expecting anything under 39, but was solid and ahead of the pace boat going into the final 2k...Front of my thighs are in agony now though! :)

We had our final 2k's of the year today to determine who could seat race for a boat to Dad Vail. I PRed by 8.7 seconds, pulled a 6:40.0 flat.

Wasn't too happy with it though because I died with 500m left to go and my split went up almost 10 seconds. Should have pulled closer to a 6:30.0.

Congratulations Eric and Chris. Excellent improvements!

Today, I pb'd a 500 @ 1.57.0. Wasn't the intent, but it worked as the last interval of a short session.

Got a new 2k pb last weekend 6:38 at 75kg, just under 10 seconds quicker than the last.

Looking for sub 6:30 by christmas as a lightweight!
Whatever it takes!

First post on the forum. Pulled a 5k today in training for head season in august. Knocked 10 seconds off my last (which, coincidentally was my first timed training 5k) and brought it down to 17m39.9s. This past sprint season was my first season rowing. Best 2k was 6:32.x.

6'8" and 260lbs. Big guy but coach says he isnt really worried about my weight just yet. I'm not in the best shape but not fat :P

just got 8124m for a 30 mins at rate 20, i reckon if i break rating and push for 22-24 i could go a lot quicker but its kind of against the point of the training.
Whatever it takes!

Did a 6k test today, hadn't erged in a month or so.

PR'ed on it by 3 minutes or so, but the only other time I did a 6k I was pretty sick and out of shape.
