It was about 18 month ago after 18 month training and I was very pleased. Now my PB is 39:11 and I know I can break 39:00 if I really go for it. I read about your other goals: sub 19' 5k and sub 7' 2K. I am very close to the sub 19' 5k and this should happen this year. sub 7' 2K is a long term goal for me (7'17 now; down to 7'12-ish this year) but since you are newer at this you might realize it sooner than me. It all depends on your personal priorities too. If you like longer distances you can go for 1h 15k and HM at 2'00 pace after you realised the 10K goal. I managed the 15K 1h 6 month ago and may need another year for the HM at 2'00 pace.

Good luck to you

Tom

Even though I have already told him today at work I have to congratulate sockman (Ray) on his awesome 10k PR by a HUGE margin of 44 seconds!!! He has been doing the training schedule I made for him for about 4 weeks and just as expected after the first two weeks he started seeing improvements. The main area in improvement is being able to hold a consistent split during his long pieces. I am so impressed with his committment and willingness to train alone, because as anyone who reads this forum knows erging is the hardest sport, mentally, to train alone. At least it is for me.

Next week, at least I believe it is next week, he has his hardest workout he will do for the entire schedule: 3x 5k. Great workout but I feared doing this workout in college. Wish him luck!

Again CONGRATULATIONS and keep up the hard work, but take a well deserved active recovery piece tomorrow (dont look at the splits). So very proud!

Thanks Tom!

Breaking a 40min 10k is my main goal for the year!

Having Chris Tippin as my coach is almost unfair. However, due to our work schedules, I've only been able to follow a training schedule. Once we meet up and he works on my form, I'm sure I'll be able to break 40min (even though I thru up in my mouth in my piece today, but I didn't tell him).

My other goals are secondary, but I have a feeling I'll be able to do much better times at shorter distances. A sub-7 2k is out of reach now, but I think it's closer than anyone realizes. I swear I could do it if my lungs would cooperate. =)

New 10k pb today! This time I attacked it sensibly thanks to some great advice .

I managed to knock 18.4 seconds off my previous time of 37.03.4.

new time of 36.44.9, ave split 1.50.2. and finished with a 1.43.3 final 500, which was nice. What was nicer was seeing 1.37 and 1.38 in the final 100m.

This was my best row ever i think.

A second per 500 is a _very_ nice advance, whatever the distance.
My prediction: You'll be pushing 36:00 for 10K by BIRC.
Keep truckin'.

ranger
