OTW, when I do 26 spm, I go 2:05.
So, I guess you are saying that, for you, pace and rate are in some kind of lock-step?
This is so different from what is see in the real world of sculling where individuals can be moving at different paces while maintaining the same rate..

Or, are yo being sly: to merely appear to not know what you are talking about?

The timer will tell on the Grand w/the tail wind as an added impetus to actually scull at 2:05...

I predict the timerkeeper will, simply, tell use these three letters: D N S.

Too bad you just hang around in the real world.

What's the problem?

No imagination?

Perhaps I like poets, because their "worlds" are ideal.

I guess we have lost our ideals.

C'est dommage.

This is what I'll do at the Head of the Grand.

Base Pace.

3-to-1 ratio.

24-28 spm.

Nice 5K on the metronome there. You can give up with the metronome now, you've done enough to prove that you are certifiably insane. The next stage being putting your pants on your head, a pencil up each nostril and chanting "Wibble".

This part is to be applauded... FIrst time out => just go for being steady...
in any analysis "@ 2:05 pace" disappears over the horizon...
The claim that will follow: "I wasn't even trying".... " I wasn't fully trained" B)
IOW: all "blow" and no "go"

You still have not answered the question: "Will you (ranger) go out a 2:05 pace for the first (say 1k) of the Head of the Grand)" IOW: time for the first 1k = 4:10...

3.4 k (6.8 500s) x 2.1 min/500m (2:06)pace is equal to a finish time of 14.28 min. = 14:16.8 seconds
(i gave you a free 1 second per 500m for being an ersatz novice :) )

Hardly.

If I do base pace, 24-28 spm, 3-to-1 ratio, I go 2:05.

Nice.

I would like to go 2 hours on the Kurt Kinetic, too.

But I'll have to work up to it.

Not enough patience at the moment.

I am just doing 60min sessions.

Then again, I am doing my biking after erging and before rowing OTW.

And I am doing three 60min sessions OTBike a day.

Hardly.

If I do base pace (blah-blah) I go 2:05.

ranger
and I say that your time will be slower than 14:16 for the race.

Why do you always say "if"?
Is it to have an excuse for not performing well?

Hey.

By my thermometer, at 10 a.m., it's all the way up to 30 degrees F. now.

Man.

Now _that's_ more like it.

A heat wave.

:D :D

Maybe the ice will melt soon.

Are you building up the story that it will be "too cold to row tomorrow"?
Here's the forecast for the race venue:

You'll need another lame excuse.

Sure.

I am just giving speeds when I am rowing rowing well, in open water, in good conditions, without slow downs for steering, obstacles, etc.

Heck, I am sure there are a zillion things to slow you down in a head race.

Like slamming into other boats, running into the bank of the river, crabbing so badly you almost fall out of the boat, steering way off course and getting lost entirely, forgetting where the finish line is and so having to row the last 1K with your head turned around looking for it, plowing through one foot waves, freezing your butt off and therefore wishing like hell you had taken up some other damn sport rather than this crazy one, etc.

:D :D
