Paul, gutsy agressive start, don,t like the rating in the last 200, if you really go for rating should 40 again.
Think you should start like this, but sooner back off and try to keep 33/34 and from 300 on start to build rate again.
But nice work, doing well.

Agreed - a more controlled effort should yield a faster still time. I suppose you have to make mistakes to move things on, and it's still a PB, so not *so* bad. Fast start as before and then drop back to 138s+139s maybe for the middle bit should be better. At the moment I'm quite liking the brevity of 1K efforts but am certainly now beginning to to enter the world of lactic acid though. :D

If we look at the world record difference for HWTs and LWTs for 2K the gap is around 20s. This would imply about 10s for 1K efforts. A sub 3 min 1K for a HWT I consider to be VERY good, so *if* I could get 3:09 (and it's a big "if" I know) then that'd be really pleasing. Not sure whether I can do that but am certain I get a few more seconds off.

That's a great time... but looking at these 200m spilts & SR's, I suggest you went out just the tiniest bit too hard over that first 200m... That extra 0.7 sec is within reach... just a slight tightening up of those first 4 splits will do it.

Congratulations Marius!

Looks like some great even pacing and rating there also. I'm not at all familiar with the skierg - what sort of rating would most folks be doing for a 2k there? (Henry's comment made me curious!)

I ski myself and rating is certainly higher, strokelenght is less, but still, close to 60 for three min is high. Marius can rate high easily both on the rower and skier.

Thanks guys. This one felt good to get, it has been a hard week with 500m TT, ctc and lack of sleep.
It felt good(almost to easy) until the last 200m where I met the famous wall  Had to dig really deep to keep the pace at a decent level.
The rating is high but I’m using short strokes, between 0,7 and 0,8m.
2k Wr attempt will be in August/September I guess. It’s summertime now B)

That short? I seldom get below 0,95 and often above 1,05. High drag?

Wow marius! Sensational! That must be so satisfying. Can I ask what your background is in sports prior to getting on the erg? You seem to be pretty gifted and what makes it all the more interesting is that you're a HWT but don't appear to be a HWT-HWT if that makes sense. I think alot of us here will be rooting for you in your next record bid and it's great that you're on the forum. I bet you didn't even need any carbs!

Yeah I was thinking that too re not being a 'HWT - HWT'

I could have sworn you were heavier than 91kg Marius. Have you lost weight?

Yes, that’s the idea behind short strokes and high spm, you can go higher on the df. My standard df is now 156(started with 120). I’m testing higher and higher df. Did 500m(1:23.5 and same as my row pb)using 180 earlier this week. A bit high at the moment, but I’m slowly getting used to it.
This 1k was done with a df of only 130 as I had a hard week and was afraid to hit the wall too early with a higher df.

Have been much heavier years ago, just above 130kg for a moment. Been in the 90kg club quite a while now.
Around 93kg at the moment, put on a few kg’s after starting with creatine.
