Thanks... its been a tough month from this sore neck. Seemed to come out of nowhere. I'm hoping to go sub 7 soon but this neck issue is making it very difficult.Dangerscouse wrote:Well done Lance. Two PBs in a month is fantastic progress
I've been hoping to tackle my 10K and 60min PB's before the season is out. Those times are also due to be updated. Most of my ranked pieces are now sitting just above or bellow the 80th percentile (except my marathon which is closer to 60). My strongest event is the 1K and 4 Min distances.

Congrats Lance! Pretty impressive considering your neck.

Well done Lance. It does look like those longer ones need a retest considering your 2k times. I could never bring myself to row one 2k PB per month let alone two, but it does seem you are particularly strong on the shorter pieces. Congrats!

Very nice Lance! I don't know which is more impressive, your PB or that you did it at less than 100% health? Sounds like you're on track for sub 7!lancecampeau wrote:I've been dealing with a neck strain for almost a month... had to take a week off from the gym... went today with a 2K in mind

Stunning! Congrats on that achievement.jbhop5857 wrote:Good Day,
HM PB at 1:23:50 (1:59.2/500) which is a PB by exactly 3 minutes for me and the first time under 2:00/500 average.
It takes a little bit of gumption to start out pushing under 2:00/500 when you are looking at an 80+ minute workout, but you reap the rewards.
Have a wonderful day,

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Thanks gang.... My neck is slowly healing... I'm hoping to go to the Canadian National Indoor Championship (2K only) on Feb 4th so I have to be really patient & careful with this injury. The alternative is to go to a local regatta on the same day here in greater Montreal which isn't as big of an event but they have a 1K category that I would have a good chance of placing in. However... 1K isn't 2K.
Congrats to David on the stellar HM! I pulled a HM @ 2:01.5 last summer and I recall it being a bit of a freak occurrence. I have doubts I will see that time again but you never know!

10k semi-intended PB today. Was meant to be a hard distance session but not necessarily a PB. Planned to sit on 1.56s and 1.57s and see where I was for a final push at 2k. Ended up beating my prior PB by 9''!

Good job Rob. It's nice that you're getting PBs and not even trying for them! Hopefully I'll get in the ballpark of this tomorrow on my attempt maybe +10-15s.RWAGR wrote:10k semi-intended PB today. @Rob - nicely done. Sub 38 on your next true TT

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Thanks lads.
@Tom
I think 38.30 would be the best true TT but maybe not even that, given that I often find I set PBs when I am not trying to do so. I really think the stress of rowing a TT when aiming for a PB adds to tiredness, interferes with race plans, and maybe even inflates HR.

Work on your rate Rob, you are using hamsterstrokes for your build, if you build that up you have lots mores.RWAGR wrote:10k semi-intended PB today. @Henry- I know! For some reason I hate low rate work though. I just find it boring and I seem to feel muscularly broken after it but without a real cardio lift. In the past when I have done SS at 18-20 when it comes time for hard distance work my heart can't handle the jump to 26-30. Do others have this problem?!

Yes they do, the point is to build a stronger stroke so you don,t need to rate so high.RWAGR wrote:@Henry- I know! For some reason I hate low rate work though. Going all of a sudden to 18/20 is to much. First try 24 for a while, after that 22, not in one step. You get the picture. Not that you have to perse.
Low rate work is more tiering yes, the idea is a bit to use the power you use in your 2k stroke.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
@Rob - We're at opposite ends of the spectrum in that regard: I just took a look back at my own 10km PB, which is remarkably close to yours, and I did it at an average rate of 20. My problem is my lack of aerobic fitness stopping me from rating up with that stroke power.
