Good luck as you work towards 5M. How far is it across America? You could proably claimed to have rowed the distance?

Has Jan rowed across the America? Close enough to count in horseshoes! This sign (there is a reason, if one really wanted to know) on the outskirts of Sacramento, CA, indicates that it's 3,037 miles to Ocean City, MD ... that's basically the distance across the US.

So ... 3,037 miles = 4,887,578 meters - give or take.

The good news is ... it's less than 5MM :D

What's your secret? Come on, you can tell us - we won't tell anyone, honest!

Seriously, though - great work!

Will H,

No big secret. If your butt can endure it you can co it. Dedicate the time and go for it. It also helps to have a Wildman waiting for you to falter. Thanks for the push. I've have always needed someone on my rear threatening to over take me. Team work is great!

Great rowing by all you Looons!!!!!

A wise man once told me that you think you're going fast until someone else sprints by you.

If you weren't there to push, I wouldn't be pushing so hard :?

Yup ... the team dynamic at work. :D

Well, Gina, you have been staying pretty well ahead of me for some time now, but I'm a-tryin'.

You made some great points, Moose. Everyone has other activities they balance with their rowing, and rowing fluctuates throughout the year for many.

For example, I have a running season which I start right after the rowing season officialy ends every year. I might row for a few weeks into the running season, but as the run distances increase my rowing tapers off. At the end of my running season I take a few weeks off, and then jump into the Holiday Challenge which is a great way to get warmed up to push harder for the January Virtual Challenge. After that ends, a couple of weeks off to recover, and then March Madness, right into the WRC and then finish the season by doing a marathon row near the last day before the running season starts again.

I try to row one million meters each season. It took me several years to get my first million (I rowed just like Darryl did at the start). It took me about two years to get my second million. After that I started participating in the challenges, and that is what made it possible to reach at least a million meters every season. What it really boils down to is making time to row on a regular basis, 4-5 days a week when not doing other physical training.

Most of all it is important to lead a balanced life. Do not row so much that you overtrain and sustain injuries from overuse.

Kapt Kris,

I'm stunned, you think I'm unbalanced. I row, eat, work, row, eat, row, sleep and then do it all over again. That looks balanced to me 3 rows and 4 of all the other stuff.

The C2 website was down last night so I couldn't post our (humble) day's meters but, of course, the same would be true for RowPro!

Kona2 - I fell behind by not rowing the first day of the WRC. My goals for the WRC are to see if I can row 500,000 meters AND if I'm in contention to finsih the WRC in the top 100 rowers the last week, to push for that. And this will require me to row at least 16K every day. So you are correct, I have upped my row time to about 68 munutes now.

Kona2,

May I have this dance? I passed 11 million life time meters yesterday and didn't realize it until just now. 3:30 EDT Wed.

Doctor Dan,

I have been suspicious that you are unbalanced since you joined this team. Your recent performance confirms it. B) Did your Princess buy you the Buns of Steel video on your last birthday or something? Is that your real secret? :D

You found me out. Have you been in secret correspondence with the Princess?

Jan and Dan, congratulations and many more "million milestone dances."

It is great! Some time ago, before I had the erg, I thought that it does not make sense to record my meters, as there is no way I can get to 1M...
Getting on the team, sharing the challenges and the experiences really helped. Nowhere close to Dan's or Jan's (or many others) lifetime achievements, but chugging along!

Happy rowing!

B) Dan and Jan - Congratulations! B)
Great personal achievments - totally agree with Andrea, the team spirit on these boards and the motivation of the challenges are great inspiration - and a great lesson in never saying never!

Go the Loonies!
