Thanks! More Boats!!

Post by alkem » June 2nd, 2006, 10:23 pm

Thanks for the encouragement! I told my husband, family and friends I'm in training. Most think I'm a nut, but my husband Bill is very supportive and happy to see me excited about my workouts! I was amazed that I could actually row 5,000 m. More challenges await!

Welcome to the Team, Michelle! It's great to have some more female support here. And what an awseome start you made: participating in the ctc right from the start and being the first in the boat this month! Great rowing!!! I'm looking forward to read more from you.

John, I confess I'm completely clueless about soccer. Maybe I shouldn't say so in a public forum - it might be a reason to get expelled from the country  . I will have to study the schedule though, so I will know when to avoid the traffic jam (I have to drive by the new stadium in Munich on my way to/from work) :? .

I'm in the boat!

Post by Calgary Rob » June 3rd, 2006, 11:17 am

It's nice to be in the first boat for a change :)

I did a 1K w/out as part of a 5K.

A PB of 3:44.2, but as I hadn't done a 1K timed before it was always going to be.

I look forward to being bumped to boat 2 very soon.
Male - 43 yrs, Wt - 150 lbs

Well, I had delusions of getting into the C2C 1k boat today.

Warmed up for about 10k, with some faster 500 meter sprints near the beginning, middle and end.

My goal was for 3:26 (prev PB 3:30 way back in Sept)

Took off at 1:44 and just died at 400 meters. My plan was to drop it to 1:43 at 500m and then slam the hammer to it at 750m. Obviously today was not the day.

But "After all, tomorrow is another day...." .
A free beer to the first person to correctly attribute the quote.

Despite the fact it should have been After all tomorrow is another day, eh. But the person who said it was definitely not a hoser!

Keep on rowin', eh.

I would have guessed something like Shakespeare, but it's apparently credited to Margaret Mitchell - the ending of Gone with the Wind.
Frankly, my dear, ....

Thanks Jim. I'll look you next time I visit The Diamond Capital of North America. Actually, I would love to see the Northern Lights in person someday.

The northern lights are great Dan. I've spent many nights outside freezing when I should have been warm in bed, well worth it though! Two years ago; one evening the lights were really dancing across the sky. My dog must have thought we were about to be attacked because he kept running back and forth jumping straight up and barking. After that, airplanes, clouds all became a threat. We all felt much safer knowing that we were safe from clouds :? .

Good old Hunter! I sure miss that dog  .

Hey Jim, I got 400 metres into my 1K today and thought that I could see why you handled down at that point!! Deadly!!

Brigitte, you have once again set an almost impossible challenge for me to stay in the 1st boat!!!! I can't imagine breaking 4 minutes, but it would be awesome!!! You are so close, you've got to go for it! You only need to take 7 tenths off to do it.

Good to see we have our first boat already in the water and the start of a second boat. Michelle, I'll be joining you down there in #2 soon, don't you worry. By the way, great work on the logo. I think it looks great. You are a fantastic, enthusiastic addition to the team!

Those northern lights must be spectacular! Maybe some day I will see them too in real life and not only in pictures.

Michelle, your logo design is really great! I hope we can get it on the ctc site too!

Shannon, actually I had no idea how fast I was since I was trying out the force curve display on my PM3 for the first time and I didn't expect to row particularly well after my long break. It was only at the end of the session that I noticed that I had barely missed the 4 minutes and improved my time by more than 10 seconds! So I guess working with the force curve somehow helped :D Now I just have to catch up with you all. After my morning row I noticed that it was only 700 meters that seperated us from TAR, so I rowed another slow 2k B)

Great rowin', hosers.

18,000,000 meter mark on June 4, 2006.

That takes us into Myanmar (Burma)

I have never been there, and it is apparently difficult to get into in these days of military rule. Here is a picture of the ancient capital.
