Oh wow. I went home at lunch today with a laptop to load up the fish game. I did row 6 K before trying the game. I was up to 11 K by the time I quit and oooh do I feel it!

I tried sinking to the bottom to avoid the BIG BLACK piranhas but no luck. They got me there!

The good news is that all you have to do is avoid the fish’s jaws. So once the jaw goes by you can start to move up and down. The bad news is that you have to get the jaw of the yummy striped fish on the jaw too.
ALTHOUGH I would argue that I could "eat" a yummy fish even if I only crossed his middle.

SUGGESTION: More time before the fish game times out to "just row". I got the settings, started the fish game and reached for the handle and the game was gone.

I HATE intervals. What a sneaky way to get me to do them. My average pace was higher than I normally row.

I did feel like a race car driver though. I must admit my form was bad. Sometimes in the middle of the recovery I had to quickly push back to avoid the piranhas. AND I did not feel I could sink or accelerate quickly enough. Hmm. I guess more practice is needed. Hi Jon,

I was using the menu on the PM3. Main Menu > More Options on your PM3 and select Play Fish Game. The game begins once you begin rowing.

Well I had a hard time starting to row soon enough. If you don't pull the handle instantly, the PM3 goes quickly to "the typical" just row set up. I could do it. It just took me a bit to get started.

I did have my computer hooked up and was running RowPro in just row. I don't know if that was the problem.

Also, on my second game of go Fish, my rowpro closed with an error. (I'll pay more attention to the wording of the error messages and send them to you next time. I was just too focused on getting a better score.)

The third game the rowpro froze up. Row Pro is not nessary to play the game but I was using the PM twin for the data. (Of course, it can just be my computer and not the combination of Go Fish and RowPro.)

I think my highest score was 325. It went down hill from there. I had trouble getting my fish to move fast enough.

What fun. Thanks.

Susan

Susan
RowPro will not honor your game. It isn't a bug in the Fish Game at all.

I'll pass on some feedback to the RowPro folks. I think though this falls under the category of: A) It's a beta to see if the idea catches on, if people like it, hate it, use it, don't use it, etc. We did not deliberately break anything, but we also did not test RowPro, RowIT, Venue Racing, or much else, other than it was logging workouts properly.

I'd say once you turn off RowPro it'll work just fine.

- Scott
Hi C2jon!

I think y'all are on to something here, I love this game!

I got 1230 points on my first try out. I kept screaming when a barracuda (or whatever the toothy things are!) got close to me though--which made the Chihuahua and the spousal unit go nuts. I'm going to need noise-blocking headphones for the hubba.

Thanks! What other kinds of games are you coming up with?

--Jen in WI (I'm going to pretend the toothy things are Muskies, and I'm a Perch )

Yep. It was a fight for control. With the computer disconnected, I had lots of time to get started. PLUS my fish was much more responsive. I went from maxing around 550 points (when it was connected to rowpro) to 1530 points tonight.

I do strongly recommend thorough stretching after playing especially for us new ergers!

Susan

My husband suggested a skiing game.

Each game is recorded as seperate workout and the distance, pace, power, etc. are recorded. The only strange occurance is that sometimes RowIT records the time as 3:59 instead of 4:00.

Personally I have been having problems with the auto adjust feature. I usually try to take a couple of easy strokes at the begining of the game to set the pace at a resonable level but some game is seems like I can't get off the bottom to save my life (or my fishes life) and others it seems like the slightest pull sends me flying upward. Usually after a minute or two the game seems to reach a balance point where I seem to have more control but by then I have been eaten several time and lost half my time. It makes me wish that I could program a starting pace and have the game adjust from there. I haven't noticed anyone else complaining about this so maybe I need more practice.

Larry

I agree Larry, it seems as though the first 3rd of the game is an adjustment period.

Fish gods, please don't tie the score to wattage. That would remove the smaller weaker (but still game) fish participants. We all want to score big no matter how small we are.

grams
