Who are you and what have you done with John Rupp?John Rupp wrote:I firmly believe that we are all equally able to utilize our freedom to row, regardless of weight, height, age, fitness, gender or anything else.
I am happy that we all have the freedom of choice to do this and we do.

Now now, don't go riling up the little fellas! If they could compete on par, as they seem to enjoy claiming, then there would have been no need to create the special class in the first place. But we never mention this obious fact, because of the relative benevolence of the Open Class, which sees no need for discriminatory practices among ourselves, but created a place for them to be happy. Obviously is did not work out for some reason.p-fitz wrote:Ha, that's funny! The same can be said about anyone who feels the need to row lightweight.RowtheRockies wrote:As far as antogonizing goes, Anyone that feels the need to do that is obviously making up for some other short coming or insecurity in their man-hood.

I think all heavyweights should have to compete using ergs with rusty chains!
Ok, here is the experiment: Take 2 ergs, prop 'em up against a wall, fans top side. Attach a 100 lb weight to the handle and let it drop from the chain guide opening to the floor. Record the watts for that one stroke. As long as the weight is the same and the drop is the same, then the amount of energy supplied is the same.
Alternativly, find one sorry looking erg with a rusty chain, do the weight drop. Oil the chain real nice, and give it a little break in and repeat the test.
Dang, this guy is really looking for an excuse!

TR,
That's a great idea.
Another experiment is to drop the 100 pound weight on one, a 250 pound weight on the other, and record the results from the watts.
It will be interesting to see the results!![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
