The new kitten is Murphy - still really tiny at 11 weeks, especially when Kai the Golden is behind him. They have reached a truce, and hissing has mostly stopped. They are bonding over the fine art of squirrel watching.

When I can, I like to take the dogs out early for their walks - it's cooler and it's often the best opportunity to see things I might not otherwise see! Today was a good start: a night heron with the two white breeding plumes that show up during nesting season (I had not seen this before), and some ducklings. Not the best view of the heron's beak, etc., but you can clearly see the two white wiry plumes!

As this past week fades into the memory banks, there were a couple of images that I wanted to share from Bike To Work Day! One of the toughest parts of hosting a station is that you don't get to zoom around checking out other stations...and believe me, there is COMPETITION between the stations to have the coolest stuff. I was at a station that not only had logo cookies, but it also had Dr Bacon. I'll start with Dr Bacon's story.



Dr Bacon is a guy who always cooks up strips of bacon and puts them in 5 oz cups for the riders to grab at the breakfast station. He's been doing this for a really long time. For three hours, he cooks up bacon on his camping stove. He discovered pretty early on that his clothes really got trashed by the bacon grease...so he decided to start wearing scrubs. As soon as everyone saw that outfit, he became Dr Bacon!

The logo cookies are something that seems outrageously pricey for us to provide, but they make our station a winner every year! They're sugar cookies with the logo of your group digitally reproduced on icing, and they are nearly perfect. In fact, most of our Bike Jeffco cookies were so clear that we literally could read the QR code off of them to access the website. We were amazed! Little did we realize that we were throwing down the Challenge gauntlet to the Golden CO group who have vowed to come up with something equally unique next year ! Love the competition! Makes it great for the riders on their way to work.
