Why not, if you go for a serious pb, you sharpen for a while, you now just rowed a time on your base work there is 5/10 seconds more, if you build a piek on that base. Think more 10 seconds in your case.

Sub 7 though :wink:

I was half-joking, Henry. There probably is more to come and you're right: why not attempt it while I'm in decent shape.

Congratulations Mark!! Hope you're appropriately proud of this excellent achievement!

Were your three 'warm up 700m' efforts also at that 1:44.x type of pace - and did you feel any better on the full distance interval or just power through the discomfort?

Edit: and sorry I'll add here so not to have multiple posts, but you mentioned in the 'what training thread' you were at a consistent pace because you weren't relying on much of a sprint - how low did the average dip at the very start - did you go much below 1:45 in the opening salvo?

Thanks very much.

Yep they were pretty much at 1:44 type of pace. And no I didn't feel any better at all. I just decided to endure the discomfort and not stop. The second 500m is where my mind starts messing with me. And now to answer your additional question, from memory I might have pulled at say 1:40 for five strokes at the most at the start. Thereafter I brought it back quite smoothly to what my target split was but there were definitely a few 1:46's in that first 500m. Never saw 1:47 though and don't think I saw 1:46 again after the first 500m.

Sorry its not an erg pb

They will follow

Do weights count :D

3 weeks back into training 193kg ( 425 lbs) dead lift, no belt, no straps, no idea and in my 60th year

Quite pleased but I did feel dizzy and wobbly after completion

I blame Shawn's low carbo diet :lol:

Is that 425 in one minute Shawn??? If so, congrats, that's a brutal distance. Perhaps a bit of 1K 'distance' work is paying dividends?

No! Was commenting on the 425lb deadlift :shock: - not a rowing distance! 425 would a 1:10 avg- that would be something

I made the same mistake and was wondering why you hadn't posted it. It would have broken the open record by 3m, if I remember right.

OK, things getting more interesting now, I just broke 8000m for 30mins which I knew I could do I just had to pick a day when I didn't feel cr4p like yesterday. Paced it very steadily so I could've taken a few more risks but pleased nonetheless. Mental note to self: put on more weight, still nothing like 75kg.

DF=121, DISTANCE=8042m, PACE=1:51.9, logged+verified, over to you "runalone".... :wink:
