Congratulations, Norma !!!
Congratulations, Jodi !!!

Norma, it's hard to believe, but I see that way back in 2004, the Falkland Islands already anticipated this event and created a commemorative coin for you.

Thanks, Dan! You're an I.S.E. (internet searcher extraordinaire)! That is the perfect commemorative coin for me. :D

Thank you everyone for the congrats on the 5mm milestone. I should be able to get a short row in before work tomorrow and then surgery on Thursday. I’ll be back to rowing as soon as possible 🙂. I’ll check in on the team during my recovery.

Congratulations on 20MM, I can't imagine hitting that mark. Great job!!
I just passed 5MM and submitted my request for my long sleeve t-shirt (hope it gets here soon because it's going to be warm in a month :P ) Now going to try to knock out the last 8m for my 1,000,000 season goal before I have surgery for trigger finger on Thursday.
Good luck, with the surgery, and congratulation on the 5MM, and earning your long sleeve t-shirt.

Jodi, it took a little longer, but I finally found the commemorative coin for 5 MM plus a healed trigger finger. Enjoy your celebratory pint.

Image Another bunny trail of the mind....

Haven't had a good bunny trail in a long time, and danwho's commemorative coin find for Jodi's celebration sure sent me on the trail. I had no idea about the minting and usage of Civil War tokens, which this coin surely is. With the Union north doing poorly, US minted coins were taken out of circulation in 1862 in the north. From what I can gather quickly, it appears that merchants would commission coinage (looks like mostly copper) ... and so began the use of store cards, etc.! Some of these coins were pretty basic, and others were designed to resemble US coinage ...and I know you'll all be surprised, but designed to trick recipients into thinking the store coins were the real thing. By 1864, private minting was banned for just those kinds of reasons. The store credit token pictured here is currently worth about $1500.
