LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Hi everyone - just wanted to let you know about a major milestone for me! Yesterday when I stood on the scale I discovered that my BMI had dropped below 30 for the first time in at least 15 years! This means that I am no longer obese - when I started rowing a few months ago I was "Class 2" obese. Now I'm nearly 50lb lighter, and loving it! While I am still a bit overweight, I'm still working on it - and confident the all this moon-and-back erging will get me where I want to go.

Congratulations on hitting a big milestone! It must feel night-and-day different in your everyday activities.adamoell wrote: ↑February 6th, 2021, 1:22 pmHi everyone - just wanted to let you know about a major milestone for me! I've been thinking of a SkiErg as well! It'd be nice to emphasize the upper body a bit more; both biking and rowing are leg-centric. It's too bad the SkiErg is wait-listed like the Row/BikeErg.BAZzy wrote: ↑February 5th, 2021, 6:13 pmMany amazing achievements happening in team Luna-tics, so congratulations to all...!Kona2 wrote: ↑February 5th, 2021, 11:05 amAs one of our local stations often says....Congratulations! You made it through the week! Happy Friday!!
Much of the US might be experiencing some big snowstorms, but they keep skirting around this part of Colorado. Instead, we've had some higher than average temperatures...and that has brought out...the skunks. Nothing like having a skunk alert at 5 AM...
And on snow, I've been seeing some of the North American weather on the local news and can't believe the sheer volume of snow. Mind you, I grew up in the Northern Australian Tropics and hadn't even seen snow until I was in my late twenties. And I'm sure I must be the only person on the planet who has never skied...
Having said that, I've been looking at the ski-erg as it looks to provide a great workout - what do you reckon?
Overcast and storms for the Harbour City today, but a pleasant 25 degrees this morning, just "tossing up" whether to get out on the water (Narrabeen Lake on Sydney's northern beaches) or head to the "shed" to the rowing erg... Cheers, Baz

He's A Meter Multi-Millionaire !!
Whoop, whoop and way to go!! Congratulations, Dave P, on achieving a TWO million meter erging season! We wish you many, MANY more milestones and meters! In fact, you're so close to the 3 MM milestone, I thought we'd better hurry and get this congratulatory message out!
Downloading this AM's numbers, and up pops a BIG number for Dave P, who prior to this day showed meters sitting in the 11-12 K range for the year. Imagine my surprise when a posting of 2,899,387 m appears. Might call this a behind the "seens" moment, as we couldn't see that Dave had a new bike erg. I think he likes the bike erg!

Similar here, in fact it seems almost a wait list for the wait-list. I was giving it some thought while I was out on the Lake yesterday with lots of people on stand up paddle boards (SUPS). The movement is similar to skiing (I've never skied!) so might just start borrowing Janet's SUP...! Cheers, BazTallErgs wrote: ↑February 6th, 2021, 3:36 pmI've been thinking of a SkiErg as well! Tour de SkiErg
The Tour de SkiErg runs from February 1–28 and features a different event each week.
The Details
Using the Concept2 SkiErg, complete each of the following four events during the timeframes indicated and log them in your online logbook:
Week 1, Feb. 1–7: 5000 meters Brett, Jantuut, and Patrick Hmr completed
Week 2, Feb. 8–14: 500 meters Brett, Jantuut ...so far! Week still ongoing!
Week 3, Feb. 15–21: 2000 meters
Week 4, Feb. 22–28: 10,000 meters
Each week's distance must be completed as a single distance workout. They are not cumulative meters.
This is an individual challenge. (You do not need to belong to a team to participate.)
Meters must be entered online.
SkiErg meters only (no on snow, indoor rower, or on water meters please).
Uff da! That four week series of distances looks brutal. After you burn through the 5000 meters, working towards your best time for the event, you might think that our competitors would turn gratefully to the seemingly lesser 500 m. HA ! It's those shorter distances that can wring it out of you as most Lunies know. It doesn't matter which erg machine you're using to be your best 500 m time....you are going to make yourself suffer! The first part might just be the hardest...deciding to step into the virtual contestant ring....
And if the SkiErg Challenge isn't enough to get yer heart pounding, well there's the Valentine Challenge! Baz has already completed this Challenge! Way to go!!
