Has anybody ever come across the logbook doing something crazy like this?

I had just finished up a feeler row for my up-coming 2k attempt (1:40 for 1250 meters, felt very good!) so I switched over to some off-the-cuff intervals to make myself cry. What the ...

It has been 6 months, but I finally was able to post my first meters for the season. Our Y closed down March 14, and just opened again last Wednesday. There are only 2 ergs there, and one is now taped up to maintain distance. I'm not a good waiter. I got in line with Concept 2 on July 27 to order one for my very own, but my order date is now Oct 5. Let me repeat, I'm not a good waiter. I work at a bicycle shop (Jack's Bicycles, Monroe MI), and we have had the same issues with the supply chain. Some of the bikes we usually stock will not be available until - wait for iiiiiiiiiit - late March 2021. Fortunately, I have a young dog to take me for walks (Jasper the Labradoodle), and an 11 year old grandson, Noah, to come over and do online school at our house (and pester and prod and poke at me all day), so I haven't exactly turned into a carrot. Nice to get back at it, but it's HARD (and slow) with a mask on.
Sounds terrible Rick. Glad you finally had a chance to get some meters going even if it’s not the ultimate goal. Hang in there.

Pushing the software boundaries again?! You might want to forward this to David at Concept2. He's the internet guy - works out of the UK. I'll also ask Citroen - he's usually in the know on these things, too.

Great workout!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 9.15.2020

Post by Kona2 » September 16th, 2020, 11:35 am

Image Day 2 of 31 !!!

Thanks to our Fall Challenge Team for all the first day efforts! The Challenge team is often comprised of teammates who are erging with us for a specific Challenge, but are not necessarily part of the affiliation. I encourage everyone to take a look at the individual contributions that are being made - you can do that by clicking on the team name when you look at the current standings. Teammates often have a personal goal of being in the top ten percent of all participants in the Challenge - and with 5,062 participants in the Concept2 Fall Challenge Universe - you'll need to have greater than 19,300 m in the Challenge meter piggy bank to qualify. I believe we have several in that category. Whew and good work!

Here's the link to the current standings: https://log.concept2.com/challenges/ftc/2021/teams

Team standings are changing by the hour, within the hour as meters are posted and teammates sign up on the various teams! From the looks of mega meter offerings, there are going to be some increases in the grocery bills for the Lunies! Do take care as you ramp up the meter amounts - it's so easy to get caught up in the competition. Do what you can do, and trust that your teammates will be doing their best, too. Still, we also know that you can't fall behind too far as a team or you will be out of the team standing position that maybe you had your eye on! Truthfully, we want you to enjoy erging long after this Challenge is done...and burnout (vs afterburners) can happen...

What shows up in the memory on the PM5? It may be worth displaying that and grabbing a photo with your phone (as extra evidence to send to Concept2).

If you haven't already done so you should upgrade the firmware on your PM5 to V168 (or V30 for older models).

The PM5 memory is an accurate representation of the row, which was an 8:33.0 / 2214 meter piece. ErgData shows the 8:33.0 and the 2:08.2 sections. This looks like ErgData is being a bit of a dumpster fire.

Good reminder. I noticed I had to do that when I was looking at the challenge page. It's not completely obvious. Might need to throw out that reminder a couple more times.

A reply from Concept2 on Zach's negative numbers etc

Post by Kona2 » September 18th, 2020, 12:13 pm

I reached out to Concept2 regarding the two issues that Zach cited:

- the negative numbers pulled on his "hurt me" row

- the reset of the PM5 monitor to 0 once 100K had been passed

Here's the reply received:

Ben Hickory (Concept2)

Sep 18, 2020, 11:11 AM EDT

Hi Jan,

It looks there is a bug in the Android ErgData which caused the "going negative" issue. Our developer now knows about it and will work on addressing it.

The max for a BikeErg Just Ride workout is 100K, this is why the monitor reset back to 0. You can create a pre-set single distance workout that's longer than 100K but the monitor behaved appropriately in this case by resetting back to 0 once he hit the 100K max.
Regards,
Ben Hickory

Excellent. Good result there. I'll wait for the new version to auto-install on my phone.
