All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 9.05.2020

Post by Kona2 » September 6th, 2020, 10:59 am

Some great milestones happening throughout the team - meter millionaires, metric centuries that push the PM5 set limitations (talk about how to leap forward on the leaderboard!), lots of daily meters adding up to the next milestone in your logbook....all good stuff! Thanks to those who are encouraging others to consider our team for the upcoming Fall Challenge, too! Which reminds me...to remind each of you...go to your online logbooks...scroll across to Teams....scroll down to "join" and you will be all set to have your Challenge meters help propel us forward!!

Fiery red sun this AM - the wildfires are still burning in Colorado. The weather mavens say that we will have a 60 degree (F) drop in temperature from Monday to Tuesday. We are to drop from 90s to 31 or so...and it will bring snow. That's going to shock a few systems.

Fall Team Challenge....coming soon to an erg near you!

Digging A Moat

And coming even sooner than the Fall Team Challenge is snow for this zip code. Starting tonight in fact, and predicted to go go go through tomorrow. So, I am reminded of various Snowmageddon events that have started this way.

The fence around the backyard is only 4 feet high, so with a good wind and some snow, there's drifting that can threaten to overwhelm its boundaries. This happened a few years ago. I let the dogs out (who let the dogs out!), and then looked out in dismay to see one of them walking on top of the fence line where the drifting had piled up an enormous snowbank. The top of the boards were just barely visible through the snow. I couldn't run home from work to let the dogs out from time to time, so they had a dog escape hatch. What to do...what to do. There were no longer boundaries to contain them. And so I began to dig a snow moat inside the fence where the drifting had occurred. This turned out to be a lot more work than I had anticipated...even with assistance. At some point in the day, the moat was finished and the dogs could once again peruse the yard at their leisure. And the moat did not melt for a really, REALLY long time. We shall see what this storm brings. Always an adventure.
