BPP week 3.2
2 x 2000 with 4r
16.09.6
Felt better today. Did it early afternoon after lunch. Still think my issue is lack of fitness. Only time will tell

We kicked it around and felt we'd still keep all the various PP versions in this thread - the full PP, the BPP and the 5KPP. All are welcome to join us. Not a competition, just trying to prepare for a better 2K time or 5K time (or just getting ready for the rigors of the plan or hard training with the BPP). All are pretty tough so listen to your body. A great piece of advice I read once (recommended in US Rowing Magazine by a couple of well known coaches) said to occasionally check your Resting HR in the AM. If it's creeping up on you, you're probably overtraining and need to back off a bit.
Hi Mike,
Any plans to start a new thread for 2018?
Probably just adding in people here if that's OK with you! We'd love to have you on the thread. Wish there were more females in the threads (to encourage other women to join in the "fun").

I more or less started the thread just to have a place for people doing the PP and the BPP to go to. I'm currently back doing it now but took most of the year off from it. Had a decent session today, so I'm currently happy (will post in a bit).

Whether it's BPP or the full PP, feel free to join in anytime! It would help to know your status as a rower, goals, current times and what you want to achieve. That just helps others assist you more if you want and helps all of us cheer you on a bit. I'm actually a much better cheerleader than rower :D Many on here have already surpassed me. Jerek (Tom), David and many others have helped keep the thread moving along and helping others.
Probably should create a 2018 Pete Plan Thread (or just name it the Pete Plan thread). Wasn't thinking about the 2017 part!

@ David, Dreadfish, Tom, Rob (and others that have been a lot more active than I have recently) -- any opposition to creating a new thread called either the Pete Plan 2018 or just the Pete Plan?? Obviously, it's 2018 now!

@ Dread - you're going to have good and bad days (and phases that are good and bad). I think that's fairly normal. Just play it by ear and listen to your body. It's a marathon doing the BPP, not a sprint. Your body will eventually adapt, just let the pace come to you on the SS work.

Whilst I don't have any intention of running the Pete Plan any time soon I think starting a new thread for the new year is a good idea.

@mdpfirrman - Thanks for the response. Saw another poster put something up for 'Pete Plan' a couple of days ago on the Training page and someone re-directed him here, so that was the reason for the inquiry. I don't mind joining in here tho.

Hello All! I have been lurking here for a few weeks and have noticed the lack of female posters, but perhaps they, too are lurking and will join in later. Have already learned quite a bit from the active posters, so thank you! I have been doing the 2KPP since September 2017. Finishing a cycle this week, so plan on doing a 2K test in a few days. Hate them just as much as anyone! This is my second year as a committed rower on a plan. I followed a different plan last year after coming off a 5 year weightlifting/CrossFit background with good results, but wanted to do something different this season and not pay for workouts as I am pretty disciplined. I PR'd my 2K last year and am sitting at a 8:10.1 for the 2K as of October 2017. My strength is consistency vs being speedy. Biggest racing problem is between my ears. Historically, I have raced terribly and tend to PR on my home erg. Have taken a liking to the longer distance rows as of late, with my longest so far @ 15K as a recovery row. Goals for this season include breaking 8:08 for the 2K with a looooong term goal of going sub-8 (the "magic 2K threshold" for women) sometime before I die. I do row for a virtual team and participate in the CTC and IRL as well as complete my PP training. Thanks in advance for all of your input. Happy erging!

I have no opposition to either a thread name change or a new 2018 thread.

Oh, I didn't know you could rename the thread - I would love if it all stayed together.

David, I don't think you can. Considering I'm the one that started it, I would if I could. I was kind of sentimental like that when I started the last one. It stays on the site and you can still refer to it and get information off of it.

Part of the reason I asked others about this was for that reason. I just started the thread. Others carried it forward and did a lot with it. Tom (Jerek) did a nice job for a long time mentoring others. You've been (probably) the number one contributor lately.

I'll start the new Thread but this time I'm only going to call it Pete Plan Thread and leave the year part of it out. That way I don't have to rename it and start a new one next year.

Please post up on the new thread starting today. Thanks!

Mike
