LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 10.18.15
Coming to a data screen near you...soon!
Like the Valentine's Challenge, the Skeleton Crew Challenge is such a good one for those just entering the Challenge World because it lasts only a few days, and the distances are manageable even for the busiest of teammates. Ron, your story of healing from a saw injury - and all the work (physical and emotional) that took - is the one that's inspirational. It's often said that it's not what happens to us but how we handle it that matters - and how each person manages through something that is difficult is where we gain a lot of value from our teammates. We don't have to win all the Challenges or have the biggest meter totals. Remember to have some fun, and realize that our time with the rowers and ski-ergs is just one facet of our lives. For me, there's always a balance to be achieved between inside and outside time - and participation in other sports is better thanks to time on the erg.
Dean's sports room renovation is looking good! Thanks for sharing what you've been working on. I, too, struggle to figure out what to do with all the cables - wireless options can frequently be a bit too pricey or unworkable for other reasons. Baz's great outdoors is simply stunning - as are the photos that he takes and posts on his website http://thelandy.com/ We've got teammates who can be near the Great North Walk, the Continental Divide, the Appalachian Trail or European treks....take advantage of all the experiences you can in this life!
Season meters as of 171 of 365 = 58,806,741 m
Total meters on the day = 1,409,880 m

very well said :] oh and i agree...you are one of the good guys:}macbruce1 wrote:Team Mates, Friends,
I am overwhelmed by all kind words. Last year at this time when my future as a rower was uncertain and my contributions to the team were nil your support was one of the things that kept me going.
This years FTC saw so many great accomplishments. Jim coming back from his leg injury. Norma battling health issues while putting in over 270,000 meters. Thor putting the hammer down for his mighty masochists. Our friends on the OD team finishing with a spectacular per person average. The list can go on and on and know I've left out many laudable efforts. You are all great and I congratulate everyone who contributed.
I close with immense gratitude to Kona who puts an amazing amount of time and effort making our team page such a great place to go. THANK YOU K2

bisqeet wrote:some very impressive meters rowed by the team - 1mill meters - just wow!!!
on the home front my fitness room is "nearly" ready, but at least I can row again.
I had to have a compulsory stop for 2 weeks of the challenge due to some renovation work that took longer than planned.
when we bought the house about 3 years ago, there were a few things I wanted to change. We had a Sauna room, which I wanted to adapt into an allrounder - the wife like the crostrainer, me the rower so we had to compromise.
(i must say - we are both summer outdoorers - winter in bavaria can get cold - so the bikes are put into storage and the wood fire is lit .) )
Anyway - the wall is rebuilt, power cables and lightning finished - media center mounted. Admittedly more work is required for the cabling, but its working.
the small tv displays the same as the larger, but at the right height for the rower, no crick in the neck. Laptop is for row pro. Sound system is loud, Sauna is in the background
the room looks large at the moment due to the missing crosstrainer and spinning bike (under cover outside) - but I can row again!!!
me again...disorganized as usual...love the renovations :]

It looks spacious at the moment, but the crosstrainer and spinning bike still need to go in. But the sauna....
After visiting Sweden a few times I now have a smallbfridge with ice cold beverages to enjoy in the sauna...( Mist are alcoholic)
Oh the wife now wants a whirlpool outside too.... Guess watch this space..

That fitness room looks great. Mine also is quite primitive by comparison.
But Ron, is it true that you modeled yours on the CSS Hunley? You Civil War buffs are a crazy lot.

Note to self, discuss a sauna for "The Shed" with Janet...I would love a sauna, always enjoyed one after a work-out at the gym, but as I do all my workout's in "The Shed" in the backyard, no such thing exists - not sure where it would fit in...Janet, I need a bigger "Shed".

Well, since every crew on the Hunley died on board, I think I'll try to find a different model to emulatedanwho wrote:That fitness room looks great. Mine also is quite primitive by comparison.

@baz
that "shed" is the size of thesome small countries here in Europe. a cold tinny after a bit of excersize sounds about right.
I spent 3 months in melbourne working on a project and have wanted to get back for a longer vacation (3-6 months) with the trouble and strife.
Its on my bucketlist for my 50th - one of my memorable things was having a pie floater at Harry's in Sydney!!! never lived unless you've had a pie floater drowning in ketchup...
