Norma, I sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
I hope that you do well with your treatments, and fighting it off, and being as healthy as possible.
Good luck with everything, including your continued rowing.

Hi Team,

I am in Germany for a week on business. What a beautiful country! It reminds me of home in Washington state with all the hay, grain fields and dairy farms. Big difference is most have solar panels on their homes and barns. For me that is a good thing, as that is the part of the business I have been in the past 30 years!

Yesterday before I left - got my meters in for the day and surpassed 12 million lifetime meters. Pretty stoked about that... I found a hotel here that has a rower so I can continue on.

Norma - will have you in my prayers and hope that you will recover and be pain free!!

Take care all and Happy Rowing!

Ed

As my two K9s get up there in dog years, I find myself trying to slow down the passage of their time on earth. And you can't. Several of us on this team have older dogs and cats and probably an iguana or two (but that's another story), and we are sometimes faced with loss. Ron lost his dog Hannah today. She adopted their family for at least 12 years and had a good life with them. She is probably playing up there with all the other dog stars and dog angels in the Universe. We are sorry for your loss, Ron. It has been a hard day for many things in Lunie land.

It is almost a necessity for me to try to keep the hard things in life balanced by what is light. So I will tell you the story of how my sister, Kate, got her dog Bullet. Kate has always been a command and control kind of gal. It wasn't something that she learned to do later in life. I'm pretty sure she was that way in the nursery. Kate and her husband were driving in southern Arizona, and stopped at a rest stop. Someone had dumped off a puppy that looked sort of like a cattle dog and maybe part border collie and maybe something else that hopped the fence. Kate insisted that they had to take the dog with them. Her husband resisted. Kate insisted. The dog went with them. When I asked her if she was going to keep the dog, she said certainly - and her name is Bullet after Roy Rogers' dog, Bullet. Kate has always had a "thing" about John Wayne movies and Roy Rogers shows. Maybe it is because they were heroes from a simpler time and right and wrong was more easily spelled out. Over the next few years, Kate taught Bullet how to be a handi-dog. She had Bullet figure out how to bring the phone to her, open the refrigerator and do all the kinds of things that handi-dogs are trained to do. For awhile there, I thought perhaps Kate would start training handidogs since she was pretty good at getting them to do what she wanted them to do. But no - it was just that one dog that she had bonded with. In fact, she kept the dog and got rid of the husband but that's a different story, too.

Sometimes people and pets come into our lives in such unexpected ways, and we find ourselves going in directions we never dreamed would be in our future. Seize those moments and enjoy where they take you. And let there be lots of light in our Lunie Universe to help counter the heavy hearts we have when we have loved and lost.

Ron - so sorry for your loss! In our family our pets are just a big part of us, I know it hurts. I don't remember who said it - when I die I want to go to heaven where the dogs go. That is my hope that I can reunite with all of ours someday. We have been very blessed to have many in our life throughout the years.
God bless,
Ed

Every day there is so much tragedy in the world and my loss, while painful for me, is small in the grand scheme of things.
If there is a special place for pets, I know Hannah is running now. As a greyhound she was born to run and loved to run.
Today I am trying to look back at all the love and joy she brought into our lives and remember the fun we had together. I remember snow blowing a "race track" around our house and how she would race around and around and then roll like a nut in the snow. I remember how she would run around our fenced in area chasing and tossing her favorite toy, a deflated and very bedraggled soccer ball. I especially treasured the long and peaceful walks on the back roads around our house.
I hope that we gave her twelve good years to make up for the two hard years at the track. When we visited the greyhound rescue sight we instantly bonded with Hannah. She had been there a while because other people didn't want her since she had scars, from what they didn't know. But when we looked in her eyes we knew.
Once again thank you for your support.
Ron
and thank-you for posting about hannah...i have no doubt that she had 12 wonderful years with you and your family :}

Thanks from the bottom of my heart to all my Lunie teammates who have sent or posted kind words of encouragement and support. It will surely help to carry me through the next treatment campaigns, as will following all of the goings on in the Luna-Tics team room. I will have to say that one of the hardest parts of the whole treatment regimen is the interminable sitting in waiting rooms, sometimes for hours on end. That’s when I pull out my phone and check out what’s going on with my Lunie friends. Many thanks for that!

Just back from a business trip to San Francisco. About time to saddle up
(give or take the 3 hour time difference).
Congratulations Ed on 12MM - awesome accomplishment!! I didn't quite have Ed's perseverance to find a nearby rower, and I thought it might be best to rest a knee that was giving me some bother.

Norma, all my best wishes to our "Stargazer".

And Ron, sorry to hear about Hannah. And I loved that racetrack in the snow memory.
