Hi, Duncan,

Welcome to the team! I agree with you on the subject of french fries. Yum. But I've only had them once in the past two months, probably a lifetime low record.

Good luck in meeting your goals. Keep us posted on your progress.

QUOTE(Slowkiwi @ May 26 2005, 12:39 AM)

Hi Team RPRG (Sounds like some sort of rocket propelled grenade)

My name is Duncan Smith, and it would be a honour and great motivation to be part of your Team.

I'm a Kiwi (a New Zealander).

I'm a veterinarian by training but have recently taken over my family farm, so I guess I'm a full-time farmer now. I've battled with my weight ever since injuring my knee 10 years ago. I'm 6' 2 and 120kg (264 lbs). I would love to be under 100kg.

Like many, I have a love/hate relationship with carbs. I never look down my nose at smokers because I think I feel the same way about french fries as they do cigarettes.

I have a fantastic wife Kate and two girls Xanthe 3 + 1/2 and Harriet who is 1 next month.

Good luck to all.

Duncan

PS. A kiwi is the most amazing bird in the world, not a fruit!

Hey there RPRGers! I've been a member of a relatively inactive college team at my medical school for the past year. I thik I'll switch over and start contributing my meters here instead! I rowed in college 14 years ago, winding up in the best shape of my life at 175lbs. After college, I started working as a Paramedic, eating fast food, and packing on the weight. I maxed out at 245lbs a couple of years ago. I bought a model C about 7 years ago, but it mostly sat in the closet collecting dust. I pulled it out this past winter, and I'm now getting on it at least three times a week. I'm mixing rowing with weight training on a Bowflex. I'm only down to 230lbs so far, but I think I've added a good deal of muscle, as my waist size is down 3 in so far and shrinking.

5'9", 230lbs, BMI 36, RHR 72

Keep it up!

Welcome, Kevin! I'm an RN. It's interesting how those of us who make careers out of taking care of other people often let our own health get away from us, isn't it? Good for us for making the effort to turn it around!

I'm doing both weight training and rowing as well, but I'm rowing at least 5-6 times per week at moderate intensity per C2's recommendations for weight loss. I rowed 45 minutes this morning.

Keep us posted on your progress.

QUOTE(KevJones @ May 26 2005, 09:09 AM)

Hey there RPRGers! Wow, 2 more new members! Great! Keep doing what you're doing.

Skipped rowing yesterday to get on the bike. The wind was horrific going northward but great on the return. Hope to get some meters in tonight (depending on how late the gym stays open). I'm still entertaining getting a Concept2 for home, we shall see…

cya,

Mark

I've always owned my own whether it was a stationary bike, Nordic-Trak skier or now the rower. Having one at the house is much more convenient.

I've joined. I have to lose about 50 - 60 lbs.

Are our miles added automatically after we post them to our personal log, or do we have to post them elsewhere for the group to get credit?

Male 5'9" 212 lbs

Great Rowing RPRG!

How many members will we have by the end of the year? Up to 13!

I barely made it to my C2 3 times last week... and that was supposed to be the bare minimum... grrrrrr.....

Now that the Memorial Day Holiday is over.... there are but 6 days left in the week... I rowed for 40 minutes tonight... and hope to add no less than 3 hours in the coming 6 days... not enough to catch Steven to be sure... but better than last week....

Keep up the rowing everyone! Regardless of whether the weight drops or not, we will be healthier for the effort.

It is great to have a team to row with!

Jim

I bought my C2 last December and started my weight-loss program in January. I've lost about 30 lbs. so far and would like to lose about 65 more by mid-next year. I try to row between 40 to 60 minutes 5-6 days a week, but haven't quite made it the last month or so. I probably won't post here much but wanted to make a contribution to a group of folks who share the same goal I do.

To get a list of members, just click on the team place number on the University Standings Page (http://www.concept2.com/sranking03/chal ... gs2006.asp).

And I was sitting here telling myself that C2 ought to make the team name a link.

Thanks Randy

I got my C2 in late February and have dropped 18 lbs. since then. I need to lose about 25 more. I'm down 3 notches in my belt.

Kevin

>I'm down 3 notches in my belt.<

Managed to wear a pair of trousers yesterday that I gave up on about 3 years ago because they seemed to have shrunk!

I've been a gym member for years but have never used the ergo much, preferred the X-trainers, the bikes, the treadmills, but none of them seemed to make much difference to my girth. Been rowing seriously since mid-April, and the blubber is beginning to go.

Apart from the exercise itself, I think the motivation of the online log, the ranking system and now the team are major factors. I can imagine myself pulling a half marathon in a month or so (14,400 metres last night).
