Just Row sessions are definitely saved even without hitting the Menu button. If you step on a gym erg, take a look at the history - most of the workouts are just random times. People sit on the erg, pull the handle for monitor to turn on, row for a bit and then step off without ever touching the monitor.

If you press [BACK] or tap the "I've finished" pop-up on Ergdata then you are guaranteed to get the row recorded. It's not difficult to get in a habit of doing that if you value the data from your "Just Row" workout.

The better habit to get into is programming the PM5 for a set distance or set time and rowing a proper, repeatable workout.

Maybe on the newer PM5 but not on the older monitors they all come to me for repair with zero on the Odometer and nothing in memory and they have been untouched in Gyms for years. The just row function is just not a reliable way of storing a result.

If you want to be 100% sure you will get a result you can upload, don't use the "Just Row" or else also use ErgData where it actually asks you on screen if you have stopped rowing.

I may end up using the "Just Row" if I move to Zwift but I have probably the only setup in the whole world that will be using 2 monitors on the 1 rower so that you can use both ErgData and the RowedBiker App at the same time. The fixed distance Zwift workouts will not directly relate to an exact distance you can predict for the rower. For example a 25Km bike ride will end up being roughly a 10Km row but the "Just Row" will enable me to stop rowing the second after the 25Km Zwift ride finishes. I can then press finished rowing and get the translated rowing distance to upload to the C2 logbook so in this instance the "Just Row" function will be useful.
