Great job on the restoration! Looks amazing. You'll get some , uh, enjoyment out of your "new" machine. BTW, I think I'd go the full black look and paint the rail, too. Perhaps ask C2 for the logo appliques for the sides of the rail.

Little story about restoring ergs. My struggling rowing club gave me pieces of three different destroyed rowers to build one useable one. It was a restoration project that, like yours, was very satisfying. Only had to buy a few new small parts and a new PM5. Rowed nice. I took it back to the club, all proud, happy to show it off. Nobody really appreciated it and when the ergs were loaned out during the pandemic, that is the one that didn't make it back to the club (I never did get the full story on that, either). My point is; enjoy your work, take satisfaction in a job well done, row a billion meters on it, but only expect similar feelings from the hardcore group on this forum. You probably wouldn't be able to sell it for what you KNOW it's worth to "upgrade" to a ho-hum new model D.

I'm still rowing my old model B and newer, but still purchased used, model C. Love them both.

You could take that as a compliment - whoever borrowed it liked it so much they kept it!

Hope I'm not late, but whatever you do, don't paint the monorail top. It will chip, get stuck to rollers and won't be smooth very soon. Part of the reason why I unloaded my water rower is that the entire rail was painted and I had to smooth it out with sandpaper and file very often.
