Thanks Jack I am actually really p****sed that I am not racing but just not been able to get fit enough and the time zone thing was a bit scary to commit to as well. There about 1200 entries from 30 countries and live streamed on BR site. There are 80 odd in the 40+ men for some reason so they will have to race twice to win which is tricky as well as some of the other groups too.jackarabit wrote: ↑June 23rd, 2020, 10:11 amVery droll, Lindsay. Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
The special one will discover that his internet service provider has accidentally blocked all websites in Europe and can't solve the problem with that in Ann Arbor until after 09:00 EDT on Monday.
His failure won't be the usual DNS or DNF, it'll be a DNC (did not connect). At least that means he won't be able to disrespect any other competitors by not accepting a medal.
Meanwhile every other American and Canadian competitor will have no internet problems and will complete their 2K with joy and merriment (and the usual other strange effects).

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
Thanks Dino. That wasn't pleasant as it's 23c and 60% humidity and it felt worse
Tried to do what Ian did: slow down after 500 ramp it back up for last 750m. By circa 500m I was fading really fast so it was pride keeping me going for the last 200m. I did even consider a HD at one point so I was tickling the edges as I intended to.
This is a PB by 0.4 secs and probably all I could have hoped for considering I only increased my four mins PB by about four metres a few weeks ago. I'm still about a month off really getting used to the short sharp sessions.
Regardless, a PB is a PB and that is all I hoped for. I'm really not sure about tomorrow as that was everything I had

Well done on the PB too!
The humidity is bad today for sure.
Some people blitzed the start but although you took it out strongly it looked much more measured and you leap-frogged them after 300-400m
I was hoping you had enough left to keep top 3 at the end and you did but I could feel your pain!
Hope can recover enough for tomorrow mornings A final.

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
FWIW The nameless one was in my login group as the 60-64s and 65-69s raced together. Thought after login he was warming up as there was 'like' a spinning wheel against his name (similar to rowpro) but I guess it wasn't the same. No surprise he did'nt race, turned up at BRIC once, saw him warm up and that was as far as he got! Never made it to his race machine.

Re: British Rowing Virtual Champs
Thanks fellas. My start was shocking and I wasted too much energy clawing it back so with hindsight I must have lost some time on that, but I was rowing on fumes at the end.
I'll do another one in a week or so and see if the lack of racing start will help get a better PB

Well done Stu. Was good to watch your progress from the back of Heat 5, and try distract myself from my own troubles.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑June 27th, 2020, 2:43 pmThanks fellas. I think there was definitely something odd about the start. There is probably an additional lag given the internet connections vs doing it at a venue, because my average was about 6-9 seconds over my target pace in the first 100 metres or so, which I don't remember looking as bad at BRIC or WRIC.
Good luck for tomorrow. I should have recovered enough from Final D to be able to see again to watch the big boys fight it out in the A.
