Woolsy, you are quacking me up!

My goodness - it sure has been busy on this forum since I last peeked! I want to join in the challenge, but I don't know if I'll be much more than a cheerleader. Well, rest assured that I will be keeping up with it online and watching your progress.

I'm glad to see so many Ducks ready to take up the challenge! What a great pond we have!

I'll check back later!
Buffles

I was right about my understanding.
This is a new "team" completely independent of our DIAR membership put together specifically for this January challenge.

All DIAR can join the team but it is not automatic our captain (?) will need to manually enter each team member in this special January challenge team.

You can see C2Bill’s response
http://concept2.ipbhost.com/index.php?s ... 329

Here are the things we want to think about:
1) Is this a ducks only team?
2) Do we want to include/attract others?

we need a team name….
I suggest a name that is inclusive and captivating if we are open to everyone

"Ducks and Friends"

"Ducks and Drakes"

"Fowl Play"

"The fastest team on the pond"

What are your thoughts about the nature of our team?
What name do you propose we race under??

Susan aka Wood Duck
I like Fowl Play!

Or maybe Ducks of Diversity?
Quack Ups?
Web-footed Wonders?
Quackers Anonymous?
Quack Attack?

You'll hafta forgive me, I just finished up my 200k for the HC and ordered my sweatshirt and t-shirt, so I'm a tad giddy! Of course, we could just go with good ol' DIAR, too, so I'm game with whatever most folks want.

I'm okay with including adopted ducks if that wouldn't make things too difficult for the brave person who wants to be Captain Duck.

Something for everyone to keep in mind is that we have to have our totals posted within two-week interval, so that way no one can "hoard" their meters until the end, then pile them all onto the grand total at the end of the challenge. Keeps things fair and up front for all participants. That means KEEP THOSE LOG SHEETS CAUGHT UP, or make sure you get the totals to the team captain in a timely manner so she's not having to stay up late getting these added in before a deadline.

I think this will be such a great way to keep us motivated to row after the holidays and help with the weight loss challenge.

--Jen

Oh hey, I just thought of another one: If we were all from Wisconsin, we could be the "Green Bay Quackers."

Quack Attack! That's great.

Actually, meters MUST be logged each week no later than Midnight Friday. Meters must be rowed between 12:01 AM, Sunday, January 1 and midnight Tuesday, January 31, 2006 (Eastern time).

I recommend that each participant log thier own meters (Does anyone NOT keep an on-line logbook?) This will make it easier for the captain. (of course if someone had a special need he/she could ask the captain if a special arrangement could be made.)

The Rules are at http://www.concept2.com/virtual

Questions are being answered at
http://concept2.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=3329

I know you will do a great job!
Hurray! Let's do it!

Seems we have two possible names:
Foul Play or Quack Attack. I'll put out a poll.

Perhaps we can get this team underway by the middle of this week? The Eh! Team is already advertising for members!

Susan aka Wood Duck

Does anyone know if the "regular" virtual teams will continue to receive a rower's meters as well as the January virtual team if the team is different?

e.g. I'm in Iron Oarsmen but there's not a January team yet for that group. If I join in a different group for January challenge do the meters count for both?

Thanks

tj

The consensus on the help page for the January Challenge is that everyone will keep loging meters in their log book as always.

If you have a university team affiliation, then your meters add to that total.
If you ALSO are on a January virtural team your meters rowed will be added to BOTH your university club team (like DIAR or Iron O.) AND your January team (Quack attack or Fowl Play.)

SO Join our team for the January row!!

Susan aka Wood duck

Hi! I am five and I row when my mom, Wood Duck, is done rowing. I have rowed 1300 m in the HC. I typically row 200-400 meters.

I want to race with the team!

Danae aka Quakers!

Captain Emilia: Keep us posted how to sign up. I guess the initial work is yours to enter our names, but let us know if you need more to go on. I'll be keeping my online log book. Thanks! My goal is 40km per week.

Margaret
