yes, but if you stop during just row, you still have to keep the PM3 active by pushing buttons

It is my impression that RowPro overrides the PM, i.e. it takes over the control.rlddikeman wrote:yes, but if you stop during just row, you still have to keep the PM3 active by pushing buttons

Re: PM4 add "Rest on Demand" to Pause Workout
Why does an undefined rest during a rated distance need to be prevented? I am fairly a newbie and want to start rowing these longers rows, but to work myself up id like to take a true rest for 5-10 minutes at my leisure then continue rowing. I have no problem with that "non rowing" time being calculated in my total time to my goal of 21097 or 42195. it would be nice to see both moving average and total time (which would need to be the final and Im ok with that)carlb wrote:Recently Undefined Rest was added to the PM4

I understand that you need to prevent an Undefined Rest during a Rated distance or time, e.g. 42,195m. The simple appraoch would be that choosing the "Allow Rest on Demand" prevents the workout from being rated. A more complex way is if the user never presses Menu|Back during the workout, then the workout can be rated.
ive got a model e w/ PM4. not sure if pm4a?mishkaya wrote:I would also love to have the option to pause a workout. I somehow thought this feature existed, but was unable to find out how to do so...
anyway....yea, i want to be able to put in 21097 ( or >) as a single distance and just row and take breaks at will and come back to the machine and get back on it with out it having been reset or logged out of session
part of the break is also "mental" and it kinda sucks to have to keep pressing "change display" to prevent it from resetting.
im sure concept2 could solve this relatively easily. why they dont, I am not certain.

I know this is a very old post, but as most of us are still using the same older machines with the same older PM3/4, this will still be relevant to many
I too have been trying to find a 'pause' function, and I thought surely I must be missing something. I like doing longer pieces like 45' or 60', but I also like/need to stop for water or to adjust the fan etc every so often and even a few seconds absolutely buggers up your average time/pace/rate etc in the final summary.
The best solution I have found is to use the JUST ROW function, instead of setting up a workout. During a just row, if you put the handle down, after about 5-6 seconds the timer will automatically pause, but the workout will stay on for a minute or so, you can then start pulling again and it will start counting again!
You still lose 5 seconds or so here and there, but it is better than losing minutes at a time. Only problem is you don't know how long you can rest before the monitor shuts off! But it gives you enough time to wipe your face, have a drink etc at least.
I would love for the menu/back button to pause the workout in the same way - at least on a just row - which can never be used as a ranked piece anyway.

It was my impression that if you have it connected to a computer the monitor will stay on during breaks.aussieluke wrote: You still lose 5 seconds or so here and there, but it is better than losing minutes at a time.
