I can picture myself being the sole survivor of a global catastrophe and finally having all the time in the world to devote to rowing only to have the chain break.Izzzmeister wrote:Can I come by your place and poke & kick your rower too? Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
After a car accident and an injured back I couldn't do any form of exercise. After a few years I discovered rowing; it was one of the few things that I could do without pain. Skip a few more years and my obsessive nature kicked in - I was rowing so much that after some time I either re-injured myself or I got burned out. Now I can finally do other things so I am trying to balance my rowing with other activities. The C2 challenges are nice because they are frequent enough to keep me interested in rowing, with enough gaps between challenges to allow me to do other things.johnb wrote:I am totally in sync with you. I have been focusing on other elements of my cross training while I look forward the upcoming challenges. I really want to work on my consistency and push myself to start as many days of the challenge as possible with a 10K row. We'll see how I hold up.ronmardix wrote:I'm kind of orbiting around the rower, poking it and kicking it every so often, waiting for the challenge to begin. First row today since tearing the cartlidge in my chest. Nice easy 8500 meters. Felt good and good to be back. Was running 5 miles s day yo stay in condition. I too will be mixing it up more.
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
After 20 years of not really working out consistently, it was an accident that got me back into the gym Ron. Six years ago I was hit by a NYC bus and during the rehab I started exercising and have totally reinvented myself as a veritable gym rat. It is funny how so many of us travel similar pathways in life. Rowing is now a staple part of my program and a key to keeping my back muscles strong and limber.ronmardix wrote: After a car accident and an injured back I couldn't do any form of exercise. Getting ready for the Holiday challenge. I picked my charity 'Why Hunger' and my goal will be to exceed my last years total of 211,805 meters. It's nice that Concept 2 does this and they really vet the charities that they pick as well. Let's get ready to row team and we get to do it for good causes too! Remember to pick your charity.

Polar Vortex, eh? Well, it's never to cold to Get Out and Row!
This is Michael Waugh. Waugh is training to row about 20 miles across open water. This trip will reverse the final voyage of his great-great-great-great grandfather, who was blown out to sea and froze to death in a work accident.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Let's get that guy on our team!
On a few other notes in no particular order:
The winter holidays are upon us.
In preparation, I caramelized 6 lb. of onions yesterday- and will have to remind myself not to eat too much from those foods which will be enhanced by some of those bad boys ( mostly stuffings ,potatoes and yes- chopped liver ) every day going forward... make that every hour.
Boy are those onions sweet!
I found fresh, sumptuously rich ricotta at a local market and am now looking for some simple recipes.
The holiday challenge is a great motivator- but as I just read.... protect your lower back at all times!
Please do not interpret any absence of posts from me as disinterest or apathy.
This is a great virtual team- let's nurse our injuries yet still hit some lofty goals .
My goal for the challenge is 250K.
Warning: with apologies to Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David:
Do not designate as your charity for the Challenge, The Human Fund!

That does it! For denigrating a perfectly good charity - one to which Kruger Grinding donated $20,000 - I'm recommending that Jason Alexander takes you off his Holiday Card list!garygOP wrote:Warning: with apologies to Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David:

Of course, if you give to the Foundation created in memory of his fiancee Susan, that will give scholarships to budding architects or city planners, all will be forgiven...
A great philosopher once said, "Nothing is so good that caramelized onions can't make it better." Words I live by!
