So, now I know the rest of the story! No wonder he's so feisty, putting the poor boy in a box marked "girls." I love the vignettes of Jesse's life, especially his love of all-things-carb. Kindred spirit.
Darn, I was planning to go outside and read for a while, but the pest control guy just showed up to spray his toxic cocktail around the yard. (Termites are a big problem, and I hate spiders.) I might have to stay inside and row instead. Way before my usual 10pm. Madness!

I actually bought it last week and love it - I have been doing the 20:00 GMT 30-minute GenFit rows this week because I'm off of school (Mardi Gras holiday), but next week I'm hoping to find a morning group that fits my schedule (11:30 GMT / 5:30 AM central - anyone interested?). I would have almost definitely taken today off, but I felt obligated to row since I had already signed up! And of course, now that it's over (and I got to 5,000 for the first time), I'm glad I did it!

I figure that I'm more likely to stick with it if I am being held accountable. I'm turning forty in May and am really trying to make some lifestyle changes so that my forties are healthier than my thirties have been.
Welcome Nancy! Good luck on the lifestyle changes. It can be hard, but it's a great feeling when you can look back next year and say to yourself that you feel or look much better than you did a year earlier.
As far as accountability goes, our team has a great accountant
Keep updating your online logbook, and if you haven't already tried out Row Pro, I suggest to try that as well. There's not always people around to row with, and most of the time you're not racing anyone, but it's great to have a little chat before/after a row with like-minded folks and to know that the other avatar(s) you're seeing on the screen/laptop are real people. It's well worth the investment (at least I think so, as it helps me quite a bit).
Also great, if you use facebook, is the Concept 2 app which will post your rows on facebook for your friends/family to see.
After commenting/liking some performances at the Crash B's this weekend, one of the rowers suggested I'd try to beat my PB for the 2k as he 'knew' from having rowed with me on Row Pro that I could do better. And so last night two others helped me through a warm up, race and cool down. I did improve my PB by over 2 seconds, but it wasn't as good as I was aiming for. I just had no breath left after 1500m and had to slow down. The strength is there, my heart rate never went over 170, but I just couldn't get enough oxygen. Every time after a 2k attempt I end up with a sore throat and coughing all evening long. I wonder how to improve my breathing properly...
And congrats Mitch! That's a lot of kilometers!
Hi Wim
The breathing topic is a good one. I use the ‘Power-Breathe’ device and its virtues are written up on the Concept website, and is a great article. It has assisted in improving my times by assisting the oxygen I am getting around my system... I’ll leave you to read about it, but I certainly recommend investing in one.
Cheers, BBB

Good work on the 7mm Mitch!
Diana on the 1mm season!
Welcome Nancy, and remember age is merely a statistic that we’re all required to have – enjoy the journey!
And just noticed (as I scrolled through) that K2 has put up the references to the Power Breathe, I’m an advocate as it works well... On short sprints, back into doing some more at present, and will throw in some running sprints this weekend – if the body holds up! I use the Power Breathe device before rowing and exercise, warms up the lungs and gets me ready...
Cheers BBB

Thanks Baz. I may just have to get one (although there's some cheaper alternatives that seem to do the exact same thing, and I'm not quite sure what kind to get since there's apparently fixed resistance and variable/adjustable resistance versions of it).
And Nancy, I wish I could join you, but my schedule is pretty random (weekdays if I can row it's evenings, weekends usually near 10:30am CST). But whenever I row, I check in chat if anyone's around to row with
. Sometimes I go in with a particular row in mind (say 30 minutes or 10k), and sometimes I just do whatever someone else was planning on doing (and so I ended up with a series of 5 minute pieces in a row one day).
Wim (attempting to get back into rowing shape).

Hi Wim
I use a variable, ad you doit over a number of weeks, adjusting the tension along the way....and congratulations on the times you are knocking out, great work.

Here's hoping for good outcomes for your son Matt, Ron! Glad that you can help out as "Dad's Taxi". Never hurts to have a whole team's worth of positive thoughts coming your way...
Great to see that Elton has some meters today as that means that he's found a rowing machine that he can use in Athens. And Jane has checked in with some meters today, too! Nancy and Jeri both passed the initial 50K milestone, and are on their way to the 100K by now. Such good stuff to report about the 300th rowing day of the year!

We have quite a few team members in Europe, so perhaps some of these packaging and marketing differences are not new to you (or others around our international community). Had to laugh when seeing how the shape of the cow changes on the milk carton depending upon whether you were buying whole milk or skim milk! Thanks to Kate Wille for the photo taken a few days ago in Belgium.

That must be two days at once - I think I just missed the cutoff yesterday.

You're doing great! It could have happened!
And the time of number capture is ever so variable...although I do try for consistency.
