That is a good idea Dave
I will start a new team called High Flyers 17 and all the active members can sign up before the end of the month - hope we get at least 8 active then.
Easy to just log into site and go to your profile and change team affiliation - it is done now

Terry and I had a go tonite - his went well (though not a PB) mine was way off 1166m but will have another go on fresh legs before the end of the month - should be >1200.
Weirdly Terry's PB last year stands as the WR for 70+ lwts!

Lindsay:

I have an entry in the IRL competition and I'm affiliated with the 'High Flyers' - should I switch to High Flyers 17? I'm the slowest in the competition and most likely will be so each month but I do want to participate!

thanks,

Thanks Lindsay - I've moved over to High Flyers 17. Chris - it looks like numbers will be thin this year, so every score is important even from us anchors at the back of the boat!

I've moved over, although I can't view more than 4 pages of the team rankings before the site seems to crash.

I'll be giving you a hand at the back :)

Chris there is no need to feel that you cant participate - that is the beauty of the erg - it caters for all levels of participation and in my experience no one makes judgements. I think it is because we all "respect" the machine and know how hard it is to do any level of training consistently. You will also find that some of your times will be adjusted enough to give you a better feel for it.
We now have you and Dave, Terry and me so hopefully will add at least 4 and up to 6 more before Sunday. If not then no dramas -- still a good discipline to set the monthly goals.

Just added myself to High Flyers 17, Chris, definitely join us, there's no reason not to.

Looks like we have 6 times captured so far under High Flyers 17, so something to work with going into the new month even without 2 more joining us.

If anyone stumbles onto this discussion before the end of Saturday, please go to Indoor Rowers League and under your profile change your 8 on 8 Team Competition team to "High Flyers 17". Even if you can't do this month's row, at least you'll be in the future months.

Cheers
Dave

I've registered on IRL (it seems a bit of flaky site...!). Not sure if I'll get a September entry done: deadline seems to be Oct 1, noon.

I'll be with you at the back Chris B)

Won't be looking forward to either a sprint or a 10k.

Lindsay, the site is a bit of a shambles, but if you look at the 'Current Season Rankings' you can see who's moved over to High Flyers 17. Rolf's name is there, so with Terry you have 8 now. :)

Thanks Georgie that is very helpful - every time I go to the page I get an error message at the moment.
There may still be another lurker or two which would be helpful

Talking of lurking....

Hi all,

Long time without posting... After the BIRC picked up a few injuries (skiing related) and along with some other 'excitement' in my life I virtually stopped erging for 5 months. Picked it back up May, and found that my fitness had dissolved (no surprise) I started with a 20 min gentle row and handled down after 10 mins at 2:14. Oh dear, so to get back to fitness I rowed at that pace but increased the time by 1 min every row. After a while some fitness came back. I started doing the c2ctc and I'm now back to a reasonable level of fitness, not quiet where I was this time last year but getting there. I have just done a 4' piece of 1128m (2m shorter than last years effort) and I have moved to the FF17. However as my life is still 'exciting' if there is anyone else I am keeping out of the 17 group I will be happy to move out.

I may redo the 4' piece as I tacked it on to the end of a cardio session or the 6k for the c2ctc as my pacing was so poor for that with the first 3000m in 12:10.9 and the second 3000m in 11:29.8 I may be able to improve enough to go up a boat if I can get near my 23:07 PB

Lindsay, I'm definitely on the DL. I have not checked the IRL site since finishing last season. Is it necessary to take further action to remove myself from the roster or can I simply limp off the field?

I switched to High Flyers 17 indeed. Only thing is I can't see them in de 8 on 8 team standings. But when I check other results I do see that my result is also registered as a High Flyers 17 result. So it should be ok I guess.
