Welcome to New Ocean Wave: the home of the Pacific Rowing Race.

Using rugged purpose-built ocean rowing boats, governed by a set of event rules and a mandatory equipment list to ensure a safe and level playing field, teams will compete for the highest accolade – to be the first to reach the finish line in the quickest possible time. For some just completing the event is the challenge and we are committed to helping every crew equally to achieve a safe ocean passage.

Success in an event of this scale requires a combination of skills including teamwork, navigational know-how, weather and routing skills, physical ability and mental strength, together with an element of luck. With a mix of these skills, together with willpower and determination, anyone can achieve the unbelievable. We want you to be in one of those boats.

New Ocean Wave is dedicated to providing unparalleled levels of support and guidance to make your dreams a reality. The start of the first Pacific Rowing Race is scheduled for June 2014. Find out more on the race page

Seconded!

Although I'll be sitting out this next challenge as I'm not, nor have I ever been, in the military. But hopefully I'll be able to go for the 10k challenge in March as I want more Concept 2 swag. :) I'm currently awaiting my 2nd T-Shirt (thank you Ron :)). I know chances to win are fairly slim, but the chances are a lot better than the lottery.

Yeah I know :? When I did my first running marathon I used a little book called "Your First Marathon" put out by the Honolulu Marathon Clinic. One of successful participants in the clinic is quoted-"This is my last marathon"-Jenni Gordon, 1977,1978,1979...
I guess the lesson is "never say never" B)
Ron
That's what worries me about the Coast to Coast, maybe the first one next week will cure me!

Congratulations, Wim, on having some good rowing lottery luck (and you can't have the luck without earning the meters!) - you're joining a good list of weekly winners! We've had many on this team!

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

Just a note to say thanks to the Luna- tics for all the work and support through the JVC. I don't post often, but do check the forum frequently and always get a sense of "team" from our common efforts. Especially thanks to Jan for doing the daily updates, your commitment to this team just amazes me.

I am going to be "enlisting" in the Military Challenge, so will have to change my affiliation for a while. I SHALL RETURN!

I really did ask Concept2 NOT to make a participant change affiliation to participate in the Military Challenge. We work very hard to maintain our roster as you all know. Unfortunately, I was not successful. Here's a link to the information on the military challenge. http://www.concept2.com/us/motivation/c ... litary.asp

We have many connections to the military on this team - and some may wish to participate in this challenge. I don't often disagree with Concept2, but let's just say it's a definite disagreement this time. I know of no other challenge that requires a participant to leave a year round team in order to participate. While their reply back to me was that they might look at this differently next year, my experience has been that when someone says that...they aren't going to change a thing. So, as Chip says, you have to enlist and leave "home" to row for the military challenge.

Happy Groundhog Day, or Candlemas, if you prefer!

No rowing today. Going to donate blood. I'll never catch up to David in this challenge

Like I always say "If the groundhog sees his shadow, it's 6 more weeks of winter - if he doesn't, then it's a month and a half."

I didn't row yesterday for the same reason :) (179 units donated now.)
