I sometimes mistake one state's abbreviation for another. I should have paid more attention in school. ... do they tax federal retirement income. Ideally we would like to settle in a state that doesn't.
Those "M" states' abbreviations will get you, every time! Isn't the usual retirement model to move to warmer climes, not chilly New England? (Even though it's wicked good there. We moved to CA from Boston.)

I went on one of Kona's infamous bunny trails, and it appears that there are currently ten states that exempt all federal, state and local pension income from taxes:
•Alabama
•Hawaii
•Illinois
•Kansas
•Louisiana
•Massachusetts
•Michigan
•Mississippi
•New York
•Pennsylvania
27, you might want to add Florida to that list since we have no state income tax. Also Alaska, New Hampshire, Tennessee, South Dakota, Washington, Nevada, Texas and Wyoming have no state income tax.

Crikey, some great rowing going on over the past week! Great work team, and did I see 100K day from Ron! B)

Had a great holiday, perfect weather and plenty of boating on the lake, towing TomO and his mates around on a donut! Even Janet ventured out!

Countdown to the coast-to-coast in New Zealand is on...Friday week!

And on Australian Shepperd dogs (Bunny trails a few days back), I'll try and post a photo of 'Milo' our Border Collie, a very similar breed to the Australian Shepperd, she'd round anything up, very smart and the most wonderful nature...

Cheers, BBB

A big congrats to all of you, amazing meters put in. You are a wonderful team and I am glad I row with you year round. I am uncertain where our 2 teams will finish, however if we combine our meters we would finish in 2nd place overall.
Thank you Kona for keeping stats everyday for us year round. You are the best.

Thanks, Rosi ! We definitely all row under the same moon - and our combined challenge meters (21,741,864 m + 10,461,047 m = 32,202,911 m ) would "moon dust" ** the next closest team by several million meters. The statement that Overcoming Disabilities Challenge team is making for all the rowing universe to see is very inspirational. It's more important that the year round team support and encourage the efforts of the Overcoming Disabilities Challenge team than it is to just push for a ranking spot.

What is really cool is that during this challenge, the year round team has moved into THIRD overall in the Rowing Universe. We've never been there before. Never. Competing in the Challenge as two teams required looking at things in a different way...and I think that is part of the whole message. It's a good thing. And it's great to hear from you!

This is it for the Southern Hemisphere...and one more day for the Northern! Row...row....row...

As in leave the competition behind or "in the dust" ...just in case the idiomatic use is confusing (or maybe it's just the explanation that is... )

Daily numbers have been captured...will post later....going to try for a round of golf (in January in Colorado...whoa).

Woohoo! Another Challenge Meter Millionaire....and....drum roll....it's another hat trick! Yes, Ron has achieved ONE million meters in three consecutive rowing Challenges....the Fall Challenge....the Holiday Challenge...and the Virtual Team Challenge. We're going to have to go buy more hats if he keeps this up...the rink will be full of them! Well done...oh great Rondini !

ImageImageImageImage

And congrats to Jim also....might add that Jim and Jay are giving us a repeat performance of last year's Virtual Team Challenge in which they both made ONE million meter contributions !
