Easy for me to say, but just focus on the fact that it's your strongest PB. Well done Max, well deserved PB and you should be very happy.

That voice is always going to be there, and it's good to keep them believing as that's where the progress comes from, but don't detract from this PB.

Superb Max, big congrats on the PB B) we always want to be faster, but fact is you have never been faster before, and 3:34 is bound to come soon with some more work, or a painful second attempt within the next two days👌

Congrats on the PB Max !! A SkieErg TT is tough as the grace period from being comfortable to completely fatigued and unable to hold a split is really short. It's easy to go out too hard and blow up, you had consistency in power and stroke rate from start to finish - well done.

Looking forward to adding the Skierg to my routine.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I may have a crack at the 1' and 500m at some point soon but it's time I got back to doing some rowing too

2K completed to set up paces for next 3 week training loop.

Took off and saw 1.52/500 on the screen at 1 point. Though it felt easy I remembered last times fly and die so dialled back the pace intending to sit at 1.59. With long steady strokes that proved difficult (after 500 I was really heaving my breath) but I managed to hold the pace at around 2.00/500. A bit after halfway (even though I felt I was going to blow up) I realised it wasn't gonna cut the mustard to break 8 min so I tried to up the pressure a bit and at 500 to go I attempted a sprint finish.

I'm pleased to have broken 8 minutes after being so close last time. However I'm a touch disappointed not to have seen anything like as big a gain as from my first 3 week training loop given I thought I would have broken 8 minutes on my last 2K with correct pacing.

Well done, that's a good milestone to break.

Don't lose sight of the unpredictability of how you will feel on a given day. Some days you can smash everything, but other days you're stuck in third gear. This isn't reliant on fitness levels, and will be influenced by quite a lot of life factors. Unfortunately, sports are generally based on peaking on a given day for a specific reason, but life doesn't work like that.

Maybe quickly decide to give it another go in the next few days, so you don't let nerves dominate your head. You will have learnt lessons, and built confidence, from this session.

Well done m8, its not an exact science but you are making progress. Pacing for 2k is very hard unless everything falls in place from training to lifestyle of that week. B)

Great milestone to break. Well done.

We're always left with the feeling that we could have gone just a little faster if only...

You'll carry on making improvements for a good while yet. Obviously the gains do slow after a few months, but there's plenty more to come for you.

Marathon row from yesterday for World Diabetes Day. Last year I finished in 2:57:50, this year 2:53:29. The last hour felt like I was staring death in its face for the whole 14km, but managed to keep it going somehow.

Just completing a FM is a massive achievement, and taking off more or less 4.5 mins, especially when you're massively struggling, is a really good result.

When preparing for a FM, you're basically training for the last 10k, as that is where everything will rebel and break down if it's not a sustainable pace.

0:42.9 1,000m 1:47.2 284 1276 56

PB by 0.7s.

I was hoping for a bit closer to 3:34 and a little more lead left in the pencil for the last 250m or so, but had nothing left in the arms to pull any harder nor in the legs to rate up any more.

I had a vague plan from about ten weeks out including hard aerobic pieces, but a shoulder injury cost me some time, so I settled on a six-week programme of weights and sprint intervals, with some steady state in there as well. With hindsight, I didn't do enough of the latter. It's been a painful six weeks!

Very happy with the PB, which is arguably my strongest across both the ergs that I use, but obviously there's a voice inside my head saying that I could go faster. Two days left to have another go, but I can't quite see that happening.
Great PB! Of course you think you can go faster - we are programmed to think that it seems not matter how well we do. The Ski-erg is still pretty unfamiliar to me as I just don't use it often but I know this is impressive.

Great milestone to break and you went faster in the end - just keep working and you will continue to see improvements.
