We've got .8 degrees, I'd rather have that than 30, I remember those days, hard to breathe and lots of sweat.
Smashed a 5k today 18m19.1 (1m49.9), happy with that.
Keep up the good work team.

I think this is the first time I produced an actual puddle underneath the erg, and I only rowed for 15 minutes.
This type of weather is even challenging on the water, makes it hard to keep the power on for long.
Had to get an attempt in as I will be away from my erg for the rest of the month, happy to have nailed the rates
at least, those penalty seconds can destroy a good time.

Winter down under; Doc Baker versus the clock. What a wonderful world!

'tis indeed wonderful Jack. Though winter is a relative term here - min7 and max20 today so hardly onerous.

I'm back on the erg after almost for weeks of work travel. Just some shortish sessions to get back into things (5k and 30 min) the first couple days. I wanted to do some sprints next and decided to pickup a marker for the ctc. Maybe not the best idea with the short rests but I gave it a shot anyways. :D

The first 750 and the 1000m hurt but the back half was not too terrible. Hopefully, I can shave some time after a consistent week or 2 of regular rowing. @1:54.3 average pace for now which is right at my 2k pace.

I was sent this message via the c2 logbook mail. I have posted in the FF Rowing Comunity on facebook. For those of you that are UK based and not on fb:

"I'm sending you this as a UK based club rower. Could you pass around your members please to see if you want to put a team into the competition. If you can get them to PM me, I'll reply ASAP.

100k Team Competition

Competition is Saturday 7 October 2017 at HMS Sultan in Gosport and restricted to UK competitors.

The objective of the competition is to make an attempt on the World/UK record for a large, mixed, HWT team

A team can comprise of a maximum of 12 competitors but the ratio of 2:1 men to ladies for a mixed team must be observed, eg,
12 competitors in a team of which 4 must be ladies.
11 competitors of which 4 must be ladies
10 competitors of which 4 must be ladies

Depending on demand, there will be a small mixed HWT team category opened. In this case the mix will be:
9 competitors of which 3 must be ladies
8 competitors of which 3 must be ladies
7 competitors of which 3 must be ladies
6 competitors of which 2 must be ladies
5 competitors of which 2 must be ladies
4 competitors of which 2 must be ladies
3 competitors of which 1 must be a lady

LWT competitors are allowed as long as one of the team is a HWT

Age categories 20-29 to 60+

Age groups are defined as 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69

4 age groups must be filled with one in minimum category 20-29 and one in 60+.

Teams can comprise HWT and LWT participants but all teams are classified as MIXED, HWT

Team registration by 5pm, 1 September 2017

Competitor registration must be completed by 11 am.

Competition to start at 12 noon on the designated date.

Food and refreshment to be provided by individuals/teams.

Recording of times for each competitor and team to be responsibility of team. Recording sheets will be provided.

A photograph of the final time as displayed on the PM to be provided

A provisional announcement will be made on the winner but the formal announcement of any record will be made after Concept2 have checked the results."

I've never done pne of these as a team and probably would be on the record breaking side. But the weekend is currently free and if there are enough Flyers available, i'd throw the hat in the ring.

Tonight sees the first row since knee surgery, the long road commences, 6.59.9 will happen before I'm 50 :)

Welcome back Chris - best of luck with the rehab
Georgie would love to be there but October is not good for me (although lizh is actually in brussels at that time and I was tempted to go too)

Had an ugly attempt at the CTC tonite - big HD in the first 750 and final time @1:48.3 - will have to have another go at it I suspect
terry did a @1:52 which was pretty god for him with no sprinty training

I'm not sure I understand what it's really all about Lindsay :/ it's all a bit confusing.

When exactly is Liz in Brussels? The important relays happen on 23rd September in Newquay. The Diamonds men's and ladies 100k 60+ teams WR attempts. You and Liz would be great additions. Not too late to change your mind? Newquay is a great place for vacation! There is also a 70+ team if Terry fancies a trip.

too much happening here to travel I am afraid - Liz is in Brussels Oct7-25 with our daughter. I am expecting to be in Europe at the end of next year and will defo be on the look out for some opportunities then. I agree the notice was very unclear and seemed to be written in some sort of code. Terry is getting itchy feet too so we will revisit it next time. Love to come to Newquay.

Ok thank you - was almost on a full boat for the Flyers for once, but that was short-lived (I'm yet to score a single point for the Flyers). Will happen soon!
