Master's Open Sprint Championship
Here are my splits from Rowpro
Split____Time__Meters____Pace__DPS__Watts__SPM

2_____0:38.0_____200__1:35.0___8.3__408.2___38

Totals_3:11.9____1,000__1:36.0___7.8__396.2___40
I wanted to even pace 1:37.5, but went out a bit faster than planned. Ultimately I'd like to pace it slightly negatively, but I'm still getting the hang of these 1k's, though I'm sure at the end of this series we should all know a lot more about pacing
Hope to see y'all online soon

Good day Gentlemen,
I have Marc's time of 3:11.9 (Excellent).
I am going to do my 1k tomorrow so, if you would like to wait until tomorrow that is fine for this weekend. I suppose the window frame is now Thursday to Monday. I may not be able to get to a computer, today, to check on results. So, please post what you do on here. I found Marc's and was glad to see it posted on the results page, if you did it on beta.
Later, Thomas

Michael,
I looked for your time on rowpro and on the forum but could not find it, but you may have not done it, yet. Just let me know or post it here so I can add it.
Total after week 3:
Dan 10:00.0
Thomas 10:00.0
Marc 10:00.0
Michaelb 6:57.0
Also, Chad, if you can add the times you want to include, just post them here and I will adjust them.
I think we are doing good. This 1k race concept is deliberately making me train. I thought about it all day that when I got home I had to do a 1k when in the past I had no real obligation to do so. Tonight's was not easy and I had to strategize more with the drag factor and with my grip, which is now with my thumbs running parallel with the oar handle as opposed to wraping the thumb around the oar handle. I think the grip is helping me keep my arms straight on the drive and making me use my upper back more so than my biceps. In essence, to my fellow competitors, thank you.

Thomas

I have been using that same grip lately, with the same results.. I like it.
As far as the 1k's I'm not going to make it.. did two 1k's last thursday, but they werent quick enough to get included (they needed to be sub 3:25 and sub 3:20, right?)
good luck to you guys!

But nice rowing guys.
That's allowed. You are allowed to make it up next weekend.
Like I commented above in another post, this 1k series is getting me to the erg. I find I have interest in rowing when it is competitive. I don't think I would do it just for fitness, which is actually what is happening.

Thanks for competing.chgoss wrote:Ok, here are my three 1k times:
3/20/08: 1:42.6 (3:25.2)
3/20/08: 1:43.2 (3:26.5)
2/28/08: 1:45.1 (3:30.2)
I think I might be able to get under 3:20 with a single all out effort.. I will give it a try this weekend
cheers

The previous weeks' best were 3:25, 3:20, 3:15 so, you are awarded your actual time. Your total is 10:21.9.
Total after week 3:
Dan 10:00.0
Thomas 10:00.0
Marc 10:00.0
Chad 10:21.9.
Michaelb 6:57.0 (pending a week 3 row)
Week 4 time is 3:10. Good luck!
The last time I rowed sub 3:10 was on July 8, 2007. This is going to hurt.
I did my make up row this morning: 3:24.4. Results avail online too.
I tried to go under 1:40 for the first 500m and then back off. It was still hard. Chad: are you serious about going for sub 3:20 this weekend? Let's schedule that I suppose. I think you are a lock; I am having second thoughts.
I posted a discussion of 1k race pacing on the UK forum, since we might get more discussion over there, if anyone is interested:
