Greetings from Missouri!

Post by Bodie » March 17th, 2008, 1:45 pm

Hello all!

I have just recently started indoor rowing as of the end of January, 2008. I really enjoy the challenge and can feel what a wonderful workout rowing is for my body already! I have always exercised, yet broke my leg last year while running (long story), so began rowing thinking it would be aerobic but easier on my joints. I'm hooked!

Someday I hope that my husband and I move to a place where there is a woman's team, or even fellow rowers, for that matter! So far, I seem to be one of few dedicated rowers at our local health club, but that's ok with me as there are only two rowers. I hope that I can save enough pennies to own my own Concept 2 one day as well, as it would be a worthwhile investment.

I'm sure I shall be viewing and posting on this site as I am still a beginner with lots of questions!

Regards, indeed...

Alison :D

Hi Alison!!
Welcome to the exciting and rewarding "sport" of indoor rowing. It is great for fun, health & fitness.
We were all new at one time and there is always someone here to answer your questions or the staff at Concept2 is also very good at helping.
I sent you a PM regarding virtual teams.Being on a team is a great way to stay motivated and meet many folks who have some of the same goals.
Enjoy the ride and please consider joining Team TimbukTOO!!

Hi Alison, Welcome!! I got my C2 last year, but got more serious this year. Try some of the challenges. They are a lot of fun. Also check out the women's forum. There is an"introduce yourself" message there and also one about the team Ducks In A Row. I couldn't believe how I was motivated to finish 200,000 meters in December. Good luck. denise

Welcome Alison, I'm from Missouri also - St. Louis. We have a masters rowing team here but it's quite expensive, so I stick to the erg. You're lucky to have ergs at the health club. No Bally's in St. Louis have Concept 2's.

Welcome!

Good to see some other women from Missouri posting. I don't live too far down the road on I-44 from Rolla the other direction from St. Louis. I live in Monett (between Springfield and Joplin). We have 2 Model Ds at the local Y and I have a Model E at home. Have been rowing since April 2005 and going to hit 9 million meters this week. I've enjoyed the comraderie of the Ducks in a Row Rowing team and I also love rowing online on RowPro on which you can chat, row, and race with people from all around the world. Row almost daily online with ergers from U.K., Europe, New Zealand, South America and from Canada. It is great fun. You almost forget you are not on a local team.
