The pictures of Guiness remind me of the Tradition of The Black Velvet.
In those areas where one cannot row in the winter due to ice, a party is held the night before the boats are put back into the water. The party is called The Black Velvet in honor of the drink served - a splash of Guiness Stout in a flute of Champagne. Don't knock it until you've tried it!
