Thanks for the photos. Are you the photographer? Good eye!

I'll be back home in April. My brother in law is getting married. I'm getting excited about the trip and these photos helped set the mood.

Happy St. Patty's Day to you and everyone else out there.

Karyn
Yes, all photos are mine. They were taken on a trip to Ireland for my Mother-Inlaw's (Carol McCarty) 80th birthday.

The pictures of Guiness remind me of the Tradition of The Black Velvet.

In those areas where one cannot row in the winter due to ice, a party is held the night before the boats are put back into the water. The party is called The Black Velvet in honor of the drink served - a splash of Guiness Stout in a flute of Champagne. Don't knock it until you've tried it!

Seems about the right time of year to indulge!
I have heard the term Black Velvet before but did not know what it represented. I will try one tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.

Way to go Luna-Tics!

Post by Kona2 » March 17th, 2008, 12:23 am

Hey! At least for this moment in time our Luna-Tics team has moved into the number 11 slot overall !!

And, we're #2 in the NARC competition at the end of 2 days. This is going to be a wild challenge!

Thanks Jane and Pat for getting me connected with the link to get some visibility to how everyone is doing! We have some amazing rowers at work - Gabriella has put in over 50K in two days. Whew! Makes me tired just typing about it.

Jan (and yes I do intend to knock out that last 10K tomorrow for the 1 million meters....)

I am totally bummed out! Our house has been hit with sickness. Keith came down with a really nasty upper respiratory something or other last Tuesday. I thought I was going to escape it, but started coming down with the first symptoms last night. I am going to force myself to stay off the rower for the next day or so, and see if I can't beat this thing before it goes full-force on me. So, sorry to let the team row alone at the start of the NARC, but that is how it goes sometimes, I guess. I'll keep watching the stats and visiting the Team Room, though!

Doctor Dan, I LOVE the new avatar you are using! And the little happy tooth guy is pretty cute, too.

NARC

I just added my meters today and then checked the NARC standings. Looks like we have 5 members in the top 40 individual spots.
Great start every one. I love to see Rae's 1,000 meters a day too.

Kristine,

Thanks. The secret to beating this thing is to drink a lot of water and walk slow. Good luck.

I'm lucky to be in this boat!

Happy St Patrick's Day Luna-Tics - I'm sure there's a green tinge to the moon today! We have a slight blanket of snow, and it continues to fall, here in the Denver area - good rowing weather since I do not have snow tires on the bike!

Woohoo - we're still in ELEVENTH place! Way to row Luna-Tics!
NARC rankings - we're in 2nd/3rd depending on who has posted meters last as we are in a boat race with Timbuk2! Friendly competition for sure!

Season meters to date = 37,470,558 m

Total meters on the day = 184,439 m with 27 percent of our oars!

Milestones!

Tim 1.6 MM
Dan 1.6 MM
Steven L 1.5 MM

1 Million Meter Watch!

Jan with (10,000 m) to go!
Mike with (29,453 m) to go!
Tom with (92,203 m) to go!
Kristine with (95,895 m) to go!

2 Million Meter Watch - bet these 2 will get there within 8 days!

Gabriella with (106,582 m) to go!
Darryl with (123,714 m) to go!

March Madness Challenge:

5K = 5 ImageImageImageImageImage
10K = 8

For those of you under the weather Image, take care of yourselves. One of the many nice things about this team is that we are capable of rising to the occasion to "cover" for each other!

And the Pot of Gold goes to:

Dan 23,392 m
Tim 22,241 m
Gabriella 22,048 m
Rowin 21,097 m

Mary 7,236 m
Andrea 6,800 m
Gina 6,514 m
Tony 6,403 m
Noelle 3,249 m
Rae 1,000 m

Well done!
