I completed my first HM, got under 1:29.00. Tailbone is a little sore, don't have much padding to begin with. With one less hour of sleep it will be interesting to see how tomorrow goes. Welcome to to all the new members.

Congrats, Tim. Did you count up or count down on your HM?
And, yes, welcome to new team mates on the Lunar Mission. :D

I like to count down that seems to work best in my head. The last ten minutes were rough I just wanted to get off the erg cause my rear hurt so much. Now I understand what everyone has been saying about longer rows. Until yesterday 60 minutes was the longest I spent in one sitting.

Question about NARC... do we have to ask to be included or are those of us already on the LUNA-TICS on-going virtual team already included?

Tim, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST HALF-MARATHON!!!

If you were in the JVC08..you are already logged onto the team.
These teams are separate from the season virtual teams. If you were not a part of the Lunar Mission to the moon JVC08..you can add yourself to the Luna-tic NARC team.Concept2 has made it easier for team members to add themselves. If the team for some reason is not yet open..just PM the team captain with your ranking ID number. She will then add you.Hope this helps you.

i am not sure if this is true. I think you have to change your profile to make luna-tics your affiliation for you team for the next challenge.

No..you don't.It is set up exactly like the JVC.There are teams for the challenges that are set apart from the season affiliation. You can be a part of a virtual team for the regular rowing season and also row for a challenge team.Your meters will go toward both.It is not necessary to change your affiliation. This has been cleared up with Concept2 and made available in the information section for the NARC challenge.TIMBUK2 has rowers from several boats.Hope this helps.

I apparently have plenty-enough padding on my rear  , but I have to stop and wrap a couple of my fingers after an hour. Where are people building up callouses ... mine are on the inside finger joints, but none on the top of my palms. Is there a "preferred" grip?

I row alot and never get callouses.Just me, I guess.I use NewGrips that are very good pads with wrist straps that allow my fingers to breathe..keep a light grip and keep my entire wrist area stabilized.I am on my 3rd set of these and they have been a true miracle for my hand. The grip that I have seen recommended many times is with the fingers lightly.I have watched videos of proper form and they always emphasize a light grip and with the finger tips.I vary my hand position and the fact that a tight grip is not suggested..is a good thing..it can elevate one's blood pressure.Good luck in your search to alleviate the callouses.
