You mean Daniels?
Very even pace with a strong finish and only 0,2 s from third.
Sorry Stefan.

It was a very bad joke which probably only the English people will understand.

My "law"?

Hardly.

Just a statistical generalization.

Anyone can resist, or reverse, the decline.

But you have to take some unusual measures to do so.

You need to work on your weaknesses.

Mike VB lowered his time 12 seconds, year over year.

He pulled 6:57 last year; 6:45, this year.

That's great training.

Congratulations to him--again.

Mike is also a true OTW lightweight, rather than a light heavyweight, who starves himself down to weight, like Roy and I.

I am in the throes of another week of starvation, preparing for St. Catharines.

Yuk!

It will be worth it if I can row a sub-6:30 as a lightweight, though, given that I am now 57.

So where were you?

Sorry: slight problem at the end of the day: this has now been fixed.

Hi David,
Race 30 and 31 are still the same video. All in all, a great job.

He'll break 6 min within the next few years...

He already has, for all practical purposes, in training. Apparently he has done a 6-minute lactate-tolerance test on an erg, breathing into a tube, managing to row 1999m....

So where were you?
RR
Quite a few people couldn't get to the venue, RR, given the foot of snow that fell on Boston on Friday.

I was one of them.

No planes flew from Detroit to Boston.

No matter, though, really.

I will just be better for the additional time to train and prepare.

I will race the next two weeks, first, at St. Catharines (March 2) and then at Syosset, NY (March 15).

So I'll get some two more races in this winter.

I am looking for good lightweight rows the next two times out.

Sub-6:30, hopefully.

Perhaps a pb by March 15 and Syosset.

Weight is _very_ good, and my rowing is coming around, too; so I don't want to miss the opportunity to set some marks in the sand this winter.

Look at the video, that guy is strong!
Although I missed his race, my buddy and I saw Stephansen in civilian clothes @ 12 noon, sitting alone watching the action. As a member of the indoor rowing community, and sitting 5 seats away from the top lightweight indoor rower on Earth, I was pretty impressed...like I was sitting next to some big-time sports celebrity. We were surprised that the others of Team Denmark weren't around him (if nothing more than to be bodyguards!). Just wished him the best of luck as well as complemented him on keeping his cool when his erg was bucking at the start of his race last year. He said with a smile, "there was nothing else to do." (I, myself, would have been screaming at someone to stop my erg from jumping into the stands!). So, in addition to being a great rower, he seems like a pretty nice guy.

Rich, where do you live? Any reason you are coming out to my neck of the woods for the OLMA sprints in Syosset?? Just seems like a strange event for someone who could be challenging for the age group WR.

I haven't decided if I will be there or not. I didn't get back on the erg until the middle of December, so I haven't been doing any speed work yet, but it could be fun to get out and do a 2k in competition.
