There's a direct correlation between particulates in the air and mortality.

I have to agree with having the fan pointed outward, and not inward to the house. Another idea is to get a box fan and duct tape a 99.99 percent filter to the back. This makes a $350 hepa filter for 25 bucks (with 3 filters). Be sure to point the fan away from you when it's blowing, and not towards you.

The erg does blow out a certain amount of dust with the air, and certainly blows the air between you and the cage, directly towards you. This is why people get raspy throats after time trials, and it can also result in nosebleeds from the dryness and dust. I've taped a strip of rubber from a truck tire inner tube ofter the top of the cage and 1/3 of the way down the front, to prevent the air from blowing directly to my throat. This helps to alleviate the issue.

You can chew fresh ginger root to help flush out sore throats, or blend it with water in a blender and drink liberally.

Most importantly, I'd stay away from drugs, flu shots, antibiotics and doctors. Why would you pay a stranger to inject something noxious in your body.

It is better to be healthy. Being healthy is the key.

You can't be sick when you're healthy. If you're sick, then get healthy.

There are no medications that will help you to be healthy.

The most important thing to do is to take responsibility for yourself.

"I've found the flu vaccine seems to steer me clear of colds as well, but maybe I've already had all the 200 odd cold virus strains around. "

Since starting taking the flu shot in 2001, I haven't had a cold either. Now I know I'll get a cold! When I ran a cold was the definitive sign that I was over training.

A running coach I had a few years ago lived by the philosophy "no pain-no gain". For the time I ran with his track club I had a perpetual cold. A stress fracture forced me to lay-off the miles and guess what - the cold disappeared!

Since then I've used the hard/easy method and I think that, in combination with the vaccination, has kept me relatively cold free. (My hand is clenched around a oiece of word).

Why not just eat dirt, if you want to build up immunity?

What I find incredulous, is TPTB trying to force all children to be vaccinated in order to attend public schools. Many families have been illegally forced to vaccinate their children, sometimes at the threat of bodily harm by police, for example recently in Maryland. It is very strange that children who had not been vaccinated would be any threat to children who had been. Isn't the vaccine supposed to protect you? But apparently it doesn't work all that well.

John,

I totally agree with you. My child has had to be out of school 3 times because of vaccinated kids getting chickenpox (which isn't even dangerous for kids). The thinking is that she might infect someone?? They seem to be getting infected quite well enough on their own.

And now the CDC recommends flu shots for all children 6mos - 18 yrs. Absurd. I've just googled what's going on in Maryland. Shocking.

I would agree with the anti-flu postings but I have an added problem I'm a type ! diabetic and have been for all most 35 years. I decided to take the vaccine after a rather nasty bout of the flu. I ended up in hospital with sevre keto-acidosis and blood glucose levels as high as syrup. That happens with a a high fever. I never ant to gp through that again. And worse, I was off the ERG for six weeks!
