Truthfully, I can't remember my last PR exactly. It was, like, 8 years ago in college. I think it was 6:27 or 6:28.

Today I was shooting for low 6:30s. Went out at a 1:39 and had a lot of gas at halfway, so I was able to do a fast 3rd and 4th 500.

Not Personal Records...but season bests....soon to be PR's.

2000m- 7:00.0

500m- 1:31.4

Also done at Southern Sprints...CTP who do you row for? Hvy or Ltwt...I row for Stetson as a Ltwt. Took gold for 500m and 9th for 2k (was hoping for 6:55 but legs were still a little fatigued from 500m).

Sorry to post back to back lol...but had to "brag about that PR"

Day after my 500m and 2k SB rows...decided to do a 10k timed piece.

Old PR- 40:24.2
New PR- 39:15.6

Finally getting my endurance times down...couldn't be happier. After my 10k did 36' of weight circuits and then a serious strapless cooldown. I am done for the day lol.

Nice PB Ancho.

That is your 5k pb pace too (1:47) so now you can try that next. When are you going to take a crack at the 2k? At 6k-7, you would be in the 6:40 range or so.

2k?
Umm, errr...

I fear I have a test scheduled for march 26th.
6:40 min sounds too long to stand a 1:40 pace...

Just do 1:40 for 6 minutes, then go at 1:35 the rest of the way

I did a PB on the splits for 4 x 1k. With all splits under 3:20.

The times of the splits were 3:18.9, 3:18.2, 3:18.9 and 3:19.9.

I should be able to crack 6:40 for 2k.

My wife was not around to yell at me, "ROBERT, why do you do it" whilst taking in the big breaths.

The Labradoodle though was wondering what the hell I was doing.

Those are pretty impressive stats.

I'm a "not tall and light for a lightweight" but... have you tried increasing the drag factor when you do your 500m? Push it up by increments of 10 (or whatever you're comfortable with) and up your stroke rate. Then you just have to tough it out for less than 1:27.9

Good luck!

2 weeks ago:

old 2k: 7:40.0
new 2k (3 weeks later): 7:30.7 (1:52.7)

I have to say....i was absolutely and utterly STUNNED.

I had no idea i had it in me. i did gain 2 pounds since that previous one but that couldnt have been it. i got the the 500 meters to go mark and i was at about 1:54 average and i was feeling great, i had already beaten my previous 2k and i was feeling great. i actually sprinted the last 250 at sub 1:40 . hmm, should I be able to PB again? I hope because the next one is CRASH-B. last year at Chrash-B i pulled a 7:46.0...YIKES! i cant believe in one year i dropped 16seconds...i did grow one inch taller and gained over 10 lbs.

Definitely. You could have easily gone faster then 7:30 if your pacing was more even.
