wasn't there a discussion about this recently - 10k pace=2k+7 - or am i imagining it...? my 10k is 2k+7 (give or take the odd 10th). if so, 37:00 looks do-able from a 1:44av. 2k

Jane,

The most quoted rule of thumb is to add 4 or 5s per 500 for each doubling in distance, so 8k would be 2k+8-10, giving a 10K something like 2k+9-12

grr - just posted reply, disappeared as i wasn't logged in .

anyhoo - briefly - maybe it's more like "double the d, plus 3" for lwts over longer distances? i'll check when the forum's back up but i'm pretty sure it was a discussion about 2k v 10k and my own pbs, amazingly, seemed to fit with the +7 idea. my hm is 2k +11.

anyway, as i say, i might be imagining it! nevertheless, if i'm wrong about this debate, my 10k at 2k+7 either means my 2k is shit (very likely), or my 10k is brilliant!

I think Jane is right. I did 10k in 39min at 21R couple days ago at 7am and it didn't feel very hard. I focus on Southampton and PB now...10k for dessert later...
