Well Tom you did it and it's not even Thursday yet! CONGRATULATIONS!!! When I read your initial goal of 200,000, I was impressed. But then you kept on increasing it. Every time I saw you push yourself to a new limit I was inspired. I didn't come anywhere close to you, but there were many days I got on the erg thinking if Tom can do what he's doing, I can manage to do a piece myself. Thanks for inspiring me.

Thanks for the rest of the LUNA-TICS as well. Tom wasn't the only one providing me with motivation. This was a team effort and you all had an impact on me. Thanks!

Barbara,

I think that our Team Room will be available for a little while after the JVC is over. I did email C2 about creating a full-time team room section in the forum. Dena said she liked that idea, but still had to run it by her teammates there for approval (as I understand it.) I have not heard back from her any futher on it.

It is possible that they are waiting for the end of the JVC to make any new forum areas for us just to avoid confusion. The best thing would be if they simply "move" this current Team Room to the new area once it is established. Then we won't loose all of this fun history together. At the very least, I hope it is archived rather than deleted.

She will probably curse me for this , but it might not hurt if everyone who is interested in having a full-time Team Room section in the forum (where any team could create their own Team Room) would email Dena <ranking@concept2.com> and let her know your support and desire for it. Let the folks at C2 hear how much the forum dialogue has helped you achieve and even surpass your goals, and how this would be a help all year long.

Now, off to the rower so I can try to pass up Angelo and Rodrigo again. The sprint to the finish is on, boys!
Hey Kristine only a few short of 400,000 it's time for your full court press!!I'm just short of 500,000. Way more than I intended, but I have most of the day tomorrow to get the last 22,000.

Yes, my congrats to Rodrigo, also ... I've been checking his posts and drafting off him all month ... then he does a huge effort and zooms ahead again. I just calculated that if I do a half-marathon tomorrow, on the last day of the JVC, I'll complete my first million. Interesting thought, but it would have to be a most excellent day at work to set that stage for a Thursday evening! What a fun month with Team Luna-Tics. It's been real. Thx, Kristine, for pulling it all together.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. Today - a day off. Friday: starts my new training program. Good weight loss for the challenges, but I've not lost any weight for a week now and have a way's to go.

Got to be careful that I don't slip back into my old habits and put weight back on. A new cross-training program is in order especially working on my core, picking up my erg 500 times (I can row a good distance, but my 500 times are slow compared to others here).

A marathon? Perhaps!! Anybody else?

Thanks to Kristine and others for getting us all going as a team.

Hey Tom,

I have been trying to catch you all month. Every time I post a good piece you come along and better me by 10k. You are a bona fide animal. Keep up the good work.

Actually I had the best of both worlds with you in front pulling me forward and E Lynn right with me pushing hard everyday, I will make the 500,000k before midnight. 490,775 as of 7AM.

Now about that marathon. I did one a couple of years ago and swore never again. However, if you are up for it count me in. I can't promise lightening fast 500 splints, but then it's a long piece.

I'm going to miss the JVC, what ever will I do on Friday?

Thanks - yep - you and the others were a great incentive to me too. I decided on a 620,000 goal (20,000 per day) and decided that would do exactly that - no more - no less. There was a day or two in there when I didn't row at all (sick with a chest cold). I ended up rowing three times a day at one point to catch up. Crazy but worth it.

The great thing about this forum (thanks to Kristine and others for starting it) is that it was 100% POSITIVE.

I believe this week starts a LOT of competition (Crash B's) throughout the country. I (think) will be visiting the one in Alexandria, Va just to see what others can do. I went to one in Baltimore a couple of years ago and was amazed at the times that others did in the 2000 meter sprints. Some visitors here are competing - Good luck to all of you.

Marathon: I imagine one pays a price to do one. It wouldbe a real accomplishment for me to do one (I have done a 1/2 marathon) considering I have bulging discs in my back and neck along with butt pain. However, with additional weight loss, a good core program (I believe that will be the key for me) - perhaps I will do it.

Yep: I know I post a lot. However, one more thing about what's happened since I started the challenges since November:

I suffered from sleep apnea, snored and woke up thru the night regularly. I couldn't remember the last time I felt good. I now sleep better, snoring/apnea has disappered and at times I feel "high" from exercising. Most of the time I feel pretty good.

Tom Pinckney- working on the body that men fear and women love!

Before Thansgiving I averaged 100k meters/month. Thanks for the encouragement I hope to maintain 300k now. I turn 50 this May so a marathon sounds like a good goal so count me in.

For the last 3 years I have done the Thanksgiving to Christmas Challenge. 100,000m is easy for me in a month when I'm not on the water, but 200,000 is too much for my hectic schedule. So I always shoot for at least 150,000. I did that! Then I heard about this January challenge and decided that this might motivate me to continue ergging. I signed on telling Kristine I didn't expect to erg as much as I did in the previous challege, but I would be ergging.

Thanks to all of you, I ended up ergging almost daily and just printed out my certificate stating I completed 144,453m. That's only about 10,000 less than the last challenge. That truly surprised me. I had expected to erg about 3 times a week and put in maybe 75,000.

Unlike many of you, I don't get to erg in front of a TV. There's just not enough room in my house for that. My erg sits in my sunporch (better known as the "erg room"), so I am surrounded by windows on three sides. As I completed my final JVC row at 6:30 this morning I had a lovely view as I pulled through to the finish. While sitting at the finish gazing out the window in front of me I could see the moon. I smiled and she smiled back. When I was looking at the moon I pulled a power 10 for all of you. Thanks for including me on your team.

Hello, this is my first post (better late than never)...I just want to congratulate everybody for your effort, you did great, and I also want to thank Kristine and Chris Tudury for their incredible performance because they kept me rowing harder than ever.

I wish you all the best, go Luna-tics!

It was great to be part of the LUNA-TICS JVC team!
When I signed up I committed to row at least 100 km and hoped to row a bit more, but for sure I would have not rowed 180+ km, without being part of the team and seeing all of you going towards higher and higher goals and trying to help the team keep its place.
Thank you!

Congratulations to all of you, especially all those above the average!!!

I hope to join you all for upcoming challenges and to "see" you again on the Forum. I also hope that the contents is preserved, as I did not have time to read carefully many pieces of good advice .
I might even try to do a half marathon next :).

Good rowing!

Andrea :D

Thanks a million to Kristine and Team LUNA-TICS for the motivation to row the most meters in one month I have ever rowed since starting three years ago. I'm looking forward to future team efforts.

Well, it's off to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans. If any of you are there Tuesday on the big day and see Pete Fountain's Half-Fast Walking Club give a shout out for "Jack" and I'll try to get you something special.
