I row a Model D and usually keep the damper on 5. What is snow?

I don't know what model I row on. I am only sure it is a C2 cuz that is what it says on the rower. I keep the damper on 10 and my spm is between 37 to 42. I don't know how you did it Tom but not only did you pass me up but you are kicking my butt. I row about an hour and a half before work each day and if I can get the time after work I try to get in at least another half hour. I am missing out on a lot of snow shoeing for this challenge but it is worth it as I have now lost 21 pounds and 17 more points off my total cholesterol.

[quote="Kristine Strasburger"]The snow just keeps coming and coming. This time, though, I did my rowing first. Now am eating a bit, and then out to shovel the snow. I think there must be about another foot accumulated which needs shoveling.

I wish we had the snow keep coming. We are in our 9th year of drought here. The snow just comes about 3 inches then the wind blows it around for 2 weeks back and forth so it seems like I have been shovelling as much as you but never any more moisture. It is all very sad

I just got done with the shoveling. 6 hours. I feel like I'm gonna die. I am soooooo glad I rowed first today. Another 6 inches is expected tonight, so tomorrow looks like more of the same. The next two days are really not going to be fun! (But I can't give up - we are so close to the end!)

rowing model

Post by Calamity » January 30th, 2008, 12:51 am

I personally own a model B with I have had since for 15 years. It is in the garage at the moment, although i have offered to lend it out to someone who would row for our team. I rowed fro Trinity College CT in the late 80s.
i usually row on a model c at a 24 hour health club in my area. The other branch of the club has a model b, which I use sometimes when I need that the child care at the club.
I am tempted to sell the model b and buy a model d for home use, but need to lobby my family for the rest of the money.

Brian's row

Post by Calamity » January 30th, 2008, 2:05 am

I have emailed concept2 with a suggestion to honor Brian's row and cause. here is:: One of the t-shirts available on cafepress after the row could be a special pink one or a pink JVC logo on a shirt. I suggested they mark these up and donate the extra money to breast cancer research.
Don't know yet if they can/will do this, but hope they do.

Hi to all you LUNA-TICS,

I'm Nathaniel from the Pat's TIMBUK2 team. We've been watching your behinds throughout the JVC (yes, on an ergo, unlike a rowing boat, you look forward?). A little while back I wrote a small computer script that produces daily progress stats for our team. Your teammate Kona2 mentioned that she liked the stats, so I've posted a daily report for you LUNA-TICS here.

  • Progress logged between Tue 29 Jan 06:00 GMT and Wed 30 Jan 06:00 GMT.
  • Fighting spirit is a measure of your proportional rate of ascent of the rankings. 100% means you've maintained your place in the overall rankings. If you were ranked at 200, and climbed to place 180 in the 2 days since you last logged any distance, your Fighting spirit would be ((200-180)/(200x2) + 1) x 100 = 105%. Similarly, if you were ranked at 1000 and climbed to place 950 in one day, your Fighting spirit would also be 105%.
  • A '/' means yesterday's logged distance has been split between the number of days since you last logged any metres (or day 14, when these stats were started.)

Well done to all the above for pushing LUNA-TICS onwards. See ya'll across the finish line.

Nathaniel

Thanks for the time you've taken to compile and post this information. Posts and encouragement have given many of us the push needed to meet and exceed our goals. It certainly help me!!

Thursday, I will meet my goal of 620,000. It started out at 200,000 which was (I thought) pretty good for me. Thanks to such encouraging help - I continued to up my goals and make them.

The February challenge of 14,000 (Valentine's days) should be "child's play" for many of us after this. Then the Marathon Challenge April/May?

I believe I will start cross training (I am somewhat overtrained I believe) and get started on Marathon training. This challenge was a terrific place to build the base to get started. I believe I can sit on the erg long enough and row long enough (gotta get my 500 times up), but I do have low back problems (spasms) that do pay me a visit from time to time. However, I've found that that the rower gives me the best workout safely as long as I am careful about good form.

Don't want to sound like a broken record, but prior to beginning of the January Rowing Challenge my BP, lipids, & glucose were too high and I weighed 27 pounds more than I do now. Everything seems to be under control according to my latest tests. Total weight loss has been 52 pounds. I haven't met my goal of a body that men fear and women love. However, I will continue to work on it!!

I would also like to point out that I followed the advice of my doctor and a dietician during this whole process. Thanks to them also.

One other thing..........seems like my rear-end is getting used to sitting on the erg a little better!!

Thanks to Nathaniel from Timbuk2 for posting the stats for Luna-Tics - that was a nice surprise! Since we don't have any more Sundays where we can pull out the stops, we'll have to see what we can do for Wednesday and Thursday - heading for lucky 13 million for the team.

Tell me about it! The snow keeps coming in waves. I must have shoveled the rowing equivalent of 15 km yesterday or at least it felt like it. The newspaper featured its standard article on ice dams this morning, something they haven't had to do in a few years. I love it!

Nathaniel,

Thanks so much for taking the time to put all our stats together for us. How cool! It has been a real pleasure to have the posts and visits to our Team Room from team TIMBUK2, and we have enjoyed visiting you guys as well. Thanks for coming by!

Barbara,

I think that our Team Room will be available for a little while after the JVC is over. I did email C2 about creating a full-time team room section in the forum. Dena said she liked that idea, but still had to run it by her teammates there for approval (as I understand it.) I have not heard back from her any futher on it.

It is possible that they are waiting for the end of the JVC to make any new forum areas for us just to avoid confusion. The best thing would be if they simply "move" this current Team Room to the new area once it is established. Then we won't loose all of this fun history together. At the very least, I hope it is archived rather than deleted.

She will probably curse me for this , but it might not hurt if everyone who is interested in having a full-time Team Room section in the forum (where any team could create their own Team Room) would email Dena <ranking@concept2.com> and let her know your support and desire for it. Let the folks at C2 hear how much the forum dialogue has helped you achieve and even surpass your goals, and how this would be a help all year long.

Now, off to the rower so I can try to pass up Angelo and Rodrigo again. The sprint to the finish is on, boys!
