The stats have received a mild overhaul. There's a new measure, called Fighting Spirit which replaces Effort. It is the value used to order the team contribution list. The previous score was too skewed towards favouring the newer team recruits. The aim has always been for the score to recognise extra daily effort independent of the absolute distances involved, e.g. if someone is rowing 2km per day, but suddenly does 5km, they should receive as much, or more recognition of their extra effort than someone who does 10km every day, but now does 15k. The new score appears to be better at this, while still giving newer members a small boost as they are able to climb the rankings faster.

The new system's first success has been its recognition of Albert Cropanese who, in the past few days has really upped his distances but has not received the appropriate acclaim. Finally, you're on the podium Albert and with 20km+, it's well deserved. Similarly, with Bob back from his granddaughter's birthday and doing monster days, he's shot up the ladder at a terrific rate. And if you can keep those kinds of distances up, there'll be no stopping you! Well done all.

Thanks for all the support! I have rowed more in the last 20 days than I have since I got this rower in November - even being out of town for 5 days with no rower! This team is great and I love the motivation - lets keep it up.

On another note - I have lost 2 pounds. :P

Pat,
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. I will not be able to keep putting up the meters as I did yesterday, but I felt that I owed it to the team to make up some of the ground I had lost. You all are a great group, and rowing for each other speaks volumes for the spirit of rowing and Timbuk2.
Keep up the pace we will see the finish line together.
