Did someone say rocks? Here is how I train for rocks.
On my '86 CR500, 15/45 gearing (so I can top 100 MPH on the bomb runs) and 2 gallons of premix in my backpack.(along with some water and a couple Red Bulls ) After wrestling this puppy for 100 miles in this stuff, my KTM 525 feels like my pitbike!
I also run singletrack on that Hoon.
If the C2 is the ultimate indoor fitness tool, the CR500 is the ultimate outdoor fitness tool. A half-hour balls out rip on it is one hell of a workout and the bike just begs for more. There is well over 100 hours on the top end and likely to go another 100 before it needs to be freshened.

Oh and speaking of pitbikes, here is my favourite backyard burner.
I peeled all the cheesy stickers to expose the Yamaha blue plastic and threw a set of fullsize handlebars on it. The 125cc motor has enough power to zip me along pretty fast. The front tire is hadly worn!
Also have this 110cc model that I picked up for the boys to learn how to opperate a clutch on.

A vintage (about 5 years ago) pic of my home garage. Not as clean or pretty as some of yours but it does the trick.
My CR250 undergoing simultaneous top-end and clutch rebuild the night before a track day. The CR500 is there with my 84 IT250 barely visible behind it under the boxes and my Frankenbike in front of it. (79 RM 125 with an SP200 4 stroke motor wedged in it) Along the far wall is my son's PW50 and a pair of Yamaha V-Stars in the foreground. (not mine, just in for servicing)
Today, the scene is a little different.
The IT250 and the Frankenbike are gone, so are the CR250 and Yamaha XT350, having been replaced with many smaller bikes (remember, 3 boys!) such as the two pitbikes, a couple minis (KX80 and YZ80) and my buddy's XR650L. I'm curious to see what it will look like in another 5 years.

Among my garage hobbies, is that I like to tinker with bikes. However, depending on how many beers were consumed, the end results can be very different. Here is what happens when a bunch of leftover scooter and minibike parts get welded together after a few too many beers.
It has electric start, a working speedo and a cushy seat. Still runs to this day and gets used as a gopher bike when we have bonfires. My yard is exactly the length of a football field and I'm lazy!
Here is what happens when a buddy leaves his bike in my garage for too long and I have a couple beers with other buddies.
Yes the training wheels are WELDED to the rear axle and are actually supporting the bike! The owner was not amused but we laughed historically (<not a typo, it's a word from my vocabulator) while building it.
But sometimes I get serious with the tinkering and here is an example.
It's a '69 Honda QA50 that I'm restoring. Same age as me and a little rough around the edges like me but at least it'll buff out.

These are the best pictures that have EVER been on a Concept2 forum! I ride with a group (CCCVT http://www.cccofvt.com/aboutus.asp ) and we do monthly rides around Vermont once the trails dry out and the rides are anywhere between 165 and 200 miles of a mix of dirt roads single track and some hero stuff. We get about 30 to 50 guys and gals to show up. It is the best time I have in the summer. Open invitation to anyone who wants to come and visit.
Hey 2whlrcr I saw your Nordic skis need an update I will trade you some new Rossi stuff for some of your toys in the garage. I see a lot of home gyms but yours has everything. Alpine skis, Nordic skis a rower, a TV and a mini fridge for a cold beer when you are done. Damn That almost beats Pastrana’s house.

We go out and try and work on erosion control and fix what the ATV guys chew up. Everyone thinks that dirt bikers are anti "green" but most of the guys I ride with are Nordic skiers or mountain bikers. We do more trail work than anybody. We are still losing riding land. I have 8 acres and made a small track for me and my nephew but it is not the same as a good trail ride. - Greg
Rocks rock!C3H6O3 wrote:Greg, I'd like to put in a request for a permanent Motosport forum so that this madness can continue beyond the January challenge. I consider these folks my compadres and would like to stay in touch. I'll link to it from my website and I'm sure Tim will do the same on VT. Whaddaya say?
That sounds like a great idea!GREGH wrote:I want to keep the Moto team alive and well and build from what we have.
Challenge or not with the number of people buying rowers for training I want them to hear from people who use it. It means a lot more when you guys tell them how good it is than if I do. Any ideas from anybody on how to best grow in the Moto world is welcome and needed. As you can imagine Vermont is not the "Hot Bed" of the Moto world. Keep up the good work. Don’t worry the 2008 first ever Moto team will always be the coolest! Now get off the computer and row!!
Have you ever considered creating a "proper" team, and joining the Cross Team Challenge (CTC)?
You would also appear as a team on the annual University/Club standings

I't nice to have your own place. We just bought 85 acres and are building a house on it. I established a 7 mile tight single track loop last year, following existing deer trails. It's also a trials paradise with large rock outcroppings. Only bummer is, it's located in the middle of town. I have to very cautious about noise. I don't want to piss off the neighbors. I try to keep all of my bikes as quiet as possible and I only allow a few friends to ride there. I don't want to turn it into a motorsports park. I'll post up a couple of pictures.
