Pat,
I am not sure how I was moved to the Ancient Boat. I did not ask to be moved. Did not know this happened until I saw your post and then checked the Teams page. I will move back if that is possible, but do not wish to offend anyone in the Mariners if that was how I changed boats.

I was and continue to look forward to being with TIMBUK2 for the JVC08 event.

That said if I can come back I would like to do so.

Hello Team

Post by wbulr » January 2nd, 2008, 11:01 am

I'm glad to be on the TEAM! I'm very new to rowing. I do bike a lot but really don't like riding in the cold or rain. I found a C2 at a hotel a few years ago while traveling and really liked. I saved up and bought a Model D - shortly after we lost our home in a fire  fortunately no one was injured but we were underinsured (make sure you have enough insurance) and did not have the money to replace many items (like a rower)then in November I was driving by the Salvation Army and saw a rower sitting outside. I stopped and saw that it was an old Model B and it had a big $10.00 price tag on it! I took it home, put some new batteries in and it works perfect. Sorry for the long story but I feel very blessed to have a 'new' rower and am healthy enough to use it.

We want you with us!!
You have to remove yourself from a team.I can't do this.It is an easy process.
No matter what the result..have fun, stay motivated and row strong. We are all in this for a common result..fitness and health!!

To all TEAM TIMBUK2...no one can add you or remove you from a team without your consent. If you are a member of a different team through the normal rowing season..you have the option of rowing with a new team or your regular team. Some teams are merely an extension of the team we belong to.This challenge is for fun..for some good healthy competition..and to give us all the motivation to row and to exercise. And comraderie...friendship.We are able to meet new rowers and learn from other's experiences and strengths.
If I am incorrect in my assessment of this challenge..I apologize. But that is how it has worked in the past 2 challenges.
We are all winners ..each & every rower on the long list of participants.Just the fact that we drag ourselves daily to the erg and log with discipline..that is a winner in my book!!!

Enjoy the ride!!!

wbulr:...wow..what a great find..a $10 rower.I am sorry to hear of your loss but happy to know that you weren't hurt.Stuff is just that..
"stuff".Rowing can bring us some sense of peace in a frenzied world. It takes us away to places unknown.Have a great day!!!

Hi All

Post by DavidMason » January 2nd, 2008, 5:08 pm

Hi team

Thought I’d introduce myself – David Mason from Colchester England. I got into rowing backing in 2006 – had a really good year, lost lots of weight and rowed some 1.2m meters. However, last year wasn’t good – turned 40 and drank and ate way too much…….in doing so I’m back over weight and now looking to loose 11kgs.

So, I’m very much looking forward to this and hopefully….fingers crossed…..I can keep the motivation going and routine can become habit!

Have a good month everyone!

David

David -

Looks like were in the same boat - different ponds. I also just turned 40 and have about 30 lbs to lose. Hopefully we can all shed some weight during this contest.

Good Luck,

Marvin

Hi Marvin

Good to hear from you......very similar boats! Having done a quick calculation I'm short of you by 5lbs....that is to say I want to loose about 25lbs.

I was amused to hear you've just turned 40! My Birthday was back in November and combine this with XMAS and a tough no exercising year.......well......lets say I put on a few pounds!

I wish you the best of luck in loosing that 30lbs - hopefully we can push each other on!

Best of luck!

David
