Weight Loss/ Weight Control

Post by [old] simon crawley » August 22nd, 2005, 5:56 am

i would appreciate some general advice about fitness and losing weight. 4 weeks ago at 24 stone 9lbs i joined weight watchers and started erging, i have now lost 2 sone exactly which i am pleased about, however i am not sure how best to exercise? i am very competitive and am now up to 4 * 10.000 with a HM on a saturday watching the rucby on sky. i have two rest days each week. my times are coming down so that each week i do mainly 45 min for 10k with lowest at 43.45 and 100 min for HM with lowest being 94 min. is this a good way a) to get fit and to lose weight. i have severe arthritus in right ankle so cant run at all or walk long distances. all these are done at damper 10

simon

I think it is very sensible to mix up your training as much as possible.

Do weights as well - this will assist in weightloss, more muscle requiring greater calorific requirements and increasing your metabolism.

The long slow steady work you are doing is good for weightloss (read weightloss stuff on UK web site http://www.concept2.co.uk/weightloss/ ). You should be trying to do some fast interval stuff as well.

Oh - and for motivation, you might set up a diary on the UK web site as well http://www.concept2.co.uk/forum/weblogs ... 001

Have patience and it will fall off. I hope you have taken plenty of 'before' pictures as you are well on your way to securing some nice endorsements down the line .....

Cheers
RichardT
