Time for a beer
Started around 8:15 this morning.
Finished 3 hours, 8 minutes, 44 seconds later.
It's only half past twelve but I don't care...It's 5 O'clock somewhere
(ok...it's actually closer to noon but I doubt Jimmy Buffett would mind)
Thanks to all who took the time to teach a beginner a thing or two about technique (answering the same questions I'm sure you've answered 1000x before)!
Now off to drink that beer...email C2 for my mug (I really am such a sucker for free shit!:)!) and figure out a new goal to tackle!:)! Anyone have any ideas?:)?

You could try the program that I finally finished last week. With the big one done and over, you can work your way down the ranked pieces to see what kind of a nonathlon score you can get. After the pain in the butt piece is completed it is all down hill:dszil wrote:

Great Job on the marathon. Feels great to complete one. There is strong evidence that beer is an excellent "recovery" beverage, so go ahead and rehydrate, you earned it.

I've seen your posts on that and have to admit I do like the idea. Unfortunately though, I've vowed to keep all my erging steady-state. I know myself well enough to know that starting to mix it up with the ranking boards is NOT a good idea for me . My time on the erg is the cardio portion of my workouts each day...the rest would suffer too greatly if I started getting too focused on how fast I can go! I'm just like that!
That's why the idea of trying to do a marathon as soon as possible appealed to me. It fit nicely with my training regiment. I'm thinking I may focus on the average meters board next season. Since I didn't start until late September...my "average" is skewed low this season. Might see if I can keep myself in the 7500 club next season...or something like that (I think the 10K is out of my reach). We'll see though.
Any other ideas floating out there...you know where to find me!

I ran the Chicago marathon a few years ago and around the 20 mile mark someone told me that a cold beer was waiting for me at the end (I was getting sick of the whole running thing and had proposed stopping into a bar if we passed one...just for a quick one!:)!). I thought he was joking but turns out...a frothy Sam Adams was right there waiting for me!
So I figure...if it was good enough for 40000 runners then...it's good enough for me now!
And you are correct....definitely feels great to have one under my belt!!!

Tell me, where is the "average metres" board to be found? I think I saw it once but haven't come across it since.

The only problem for someone like me though (who didn't start until well into the season)...is the fact that the average is for the entire season (which I admit makes sense). So my average this season is decimated by the many weeks of "0" I "logged" from the beginning of the season until Sept. when i started. I'm kind of interested to see how high I can average once this isn't the case.
