How to start rowing...

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

How to start rowing...

Post by whitewhaleholygrail » October 26th, 2007, 7:29 am

Hi all,

I would love to get onto the water soon but I don't know how to go about it. I am a complete novice, so is there a certain time of year that would be best to approach a club? Also, I live in London, does anyone have any recommendations as to which club allows complete novices?

Thanks,

WWHG.

Sorry cannot answer your question but you may want to try posting on The UK Site; you may get some offers you can't refuse from club members.

Any rowing club would welcome newbies. I would have thought that, in London, you would be spoilt for choice. Have a look at a few that are geographically convenient and try to get a sense of friendliness, helpfulness, how many other newbies there are, what the club's priorities are (competitive rowing or recreational rowing), cost, facilities, parking, public transport access, etc., etc.. You are sure to find a club that meets your requirements.

Cheers
Dave
