Good News – No new camera equipment for me in 2008

Post by brianric » October 14th, 2007, 7:17 pm

My kid brother suffered a major stroke Memorial Day, and was diagnosed with lung cancer four days later. A tumor, the size of a peach pit, grew to the size of an open fist when the tumor was removed September 14. He is totally and permanently paralyzed on his right side, and had a pretty rough month recovering from his ordeal.

You are probably wondering how I can say good news. I said if he made it home I’d buy the handicap ramp that is needed for his house. Let’s just say a 1DMkIII and a 300/2.8 L IS are cheaper than the ramp. My brother’s coming home in two weeks. Right now there are no plans for chemotherapy. I’m out a ramp and no new camera gear for 2008, but I still have my brother. Boy did I get lucky. It even gets better. My oldest sister and husband plans on springing for an electric wheel chair. My brother teared up when he heard what his older brother and sister are doing. This is better than new camera equipment. Thank you God for answering my prayers.

Brian,

You are an inspiration. Thanks for sharing your story.

My maternal grandfather survived a major stroke for 15 years with total paralysis on his right side.
