Weight Loss/ Weight Control

Post by [old] Steve_R » February 5th, 2005, 11:33 am

Wow, I got up this morning and weighed myself - 165.0lb! Although I don't officially track my daily weight in the morning (usually just before dinner), it was great to be able to record my morning training as a lwt. I know that by this afternoon, I will probably be just under 166 and I still have more work to increase muscle and reduce my %body fat but this morning was a great barrier to get past and see the results of all my effort. This forum has helped me maintain my focus and help learn new ways to look at training. Thanks everyone!

Steve
Ahhh Steven, me lad,

Welcome to the world of the little people. One thing to keep in mind while visiting this slender world. We ALL are slim. We are more agile than the HWT's. We can stroke out better and faster than the HWT's. We lift more pound for pound than those big guys. And most importantly, we are prettier.

NO YELLING HERE!!!!!!!

Yoda

Carla,

This has been over a year and a half in the making. I never thought I would get from 210 to 165. My original goal was 180lb (which I did last year) and after a cancer scare (biopsies were inconclusive) and 3 surgeries I decided to take things seriously. The C2 was perfect for me: full body workout, don't have to leave the house (single dad of a 4yr old), and I don't have to get out in the Texas summer. After my three week recovery from my last surgery, I started using the C2 Model C that I bought while I was going through everything. It was just waiting for me to start. Having a lwt category was a great excuse to get myself more focused and I have spent the last couple months working my way down.

QUOTE

I haven't weighed less than 135 since I was about 12!

It is pretty odd being nearly my college weight. For me, it is about being around longer for my son than my grandparents were around for my parents. 31 is far too young to have oncology appointments. Is there ever a good age though?

Steve

Steve and Carla,

You guys are on your way to better health and fitness. Just a matter of hanging in there. Eight or Nine years ago I too was too heavy. I'm 5'-4" tall and was over the 200 pound mark. I knew I needed to lose the weight and went after it just like you guys are. I'm now between 155 and 160. I've been there for about 6 years and don't intent on going back up.

Simon questions whether or not a little (LWT) person is pretty. Just look at the picture of me he posted. Have you ever seen anything more beautiful? I'm betting he's just another one of those overweight HWT's and a wee bit jealous. What do you guys think?

Yoda

What a coincidence. I too hit the magic 165 yesterday! I started this journey in Sept. of 2003 when I stepped on a scale for the first time in years. The numbers 280 stared me right in the face!

I knew I was grossly over-weight, but this was shocking to have what I already knew reaffirmed. I made the decision right then, I was going to lose the weight if it killed me. I went on a diet and lost about 30lb. I still was too fat to exercise.

I looked at my rower which I had bought in 1997 but had used only once. And I rowed! 5000 meters that day, 5000 the next and I haven't stopped. I'm doing 10000 a day now, sometimes hard, a lot of times easy, but I always row.

In addition to rowing I've gotten back into road cycling which I had given up years before. I can honestly say these are the happiest times of my adult life, and I want to thank Concept2 for saving my life!

Thanks for putting up with this self serving hot air but I am proud of myself today and it's been a long time since I could say that.

The most I have ever been is 170lbs

After 8 weeks, I am 165lbs in the morning and have gained a fair amount of muscle I would be happier at around 160 lbs (5ft 9").

Steve R: Congratulations on you fantastic achivement of losing 45lbs. I really hope that you cancer scare was just that, nothing more than a scare and wake up call.

Here's to lifelong fitness.

Ah...I can remember my lightweight days. Actually, that should of read lightweight day.

My doubles partner and I had to starve ourselves and workout like madmen for a week to get down into the lwt category for an eight race. Come time for the weigh in, we just made it in under 165. (I had to take off my shoes)

After the first ten strokes of the race we were a full boatlength behind. I was in stroke seat so I saw our coxswain look at the other boat, then look at me. "Alright Jordan," he says, "lets finish this thing off."

I don't think I've ever desired to get down to lightweight again. Some of you little guys can really pull.

Rocket Roy,

A gold star for you as well. And everyone else except those overweight heavyweights that are jealous of us young and pretty folks. I too should be a bit lighter, but I have this uncontrollable desire for Corona. If I'd stop doing that I'd probably be below 150.

Neil,

I keep trying to get on one of those plastic surgery shows on TV, but they say that the damage is too much for them to correct. At least my ears have little wind resistance. And I have a heck of a smile.

Yoda
